I posted my resume online on a career site. The first thing I got was an email. Then I got a text, then I did a Google Hang Out interview, I thought I would be working for Cardinal Health as an administrative assistant dealing with finances. They've asked for banking information, they want my cell phone, password, used ID. I got an offer letter through email. I have the emails.

A “recruiter” from the company reached out to me via text message. I scheduled a time to talk via google hangouts for what I thought would be a video chat interview but was instead a chat message interview. After getting the run around when HR manager didn’t show up to the scheduled google hang out we finally began a google hangout chat. As expected, grammar was terrible, avoided answering my questions and blocked me when I called them out on being a scam.

They email you saying they got your resume from a website and you would be a good fit for their company. They tell you to be online by 8 am your time every morning for your instructions for the day. They tell you that you will be processing documents for a medical company and making spreadsheets and tracking records. They are very evasive when asked questions about when you will meet someone in person and more questions about the company. They give you a legitimate company name and all communication is done via Google Talk or Hangouts. They send you an actual check using the USPS to pay for your computer and programs associated with the work. I took the check to the bank as I was suspicious of the way they conducted business. Upon further investigation our bank found that the check is issued from a ACH account so that when you deposit the check they can get you information because they require you to scan and email a copy of the deposit slip verifying the deposit which has all your account information on it. There are also other red flags that accumulated as time went on such as grammatical errors in your instruction sheet that accompanies the check and there is no letterhead either. The check looks valid with a Prudential stamp in the upper left corner of the check and Bank of America on the upper right. The routing number is not a paper check routing number but an ACH account number. Luckily we investigated our suspicions before we lost any money or gave them sensitive personal information.
