Geek Source LLC Reports & Reviews (22)

We used the Geek Source service after paying $699.00 for their service. This was in 2019.
After a short time, 4 or 6 months, my wife and I decided we didn't need the service anymore so she called Geek Source and canceled our subscription.
On March 24th, 2023 Geek Source contacted us to let us know that it was the end of our contract and that we owed them $5000.00. They said if we wanted to cancel then we would have to pay the $5000.00 but if we continued with their service then we only had to pay them $1999.98.
After arguing with them for about 30 minutes they reduced the price to $1499.98 !
So, as my wife was talking to them I went to our bank and canceled all of our accounts before my wife got off the phone with them. The were requesting that we make out a check, scan the check and then send the scan to them. Then they requested we mail the check to them, even instructing my wife to go to our mail box and to insert the check while they were still on the phone. By that time I was at the bank and had canceled all our bank checking and savings accounts.
The check that they wanted mailed was to be sent to a Mixher Media LLC.
After investigating this company, I found that the address was the address of a Angela C. Taroub
4925 South Broadway Avenue
Suite 1019
Sedgwick, KS 67216

Other than our initial money we paid, we are not out any additional funds.
We will be talking to a lawyer if need be.
I am curious to know how many others have or needed to contact a lawyer !

I hope all the people at Geek Source meet with a horrible end. I was scammed approximately $1,200. I was told that my computer was about to crash and they would help me. They took $650 out of my bank account and then told me I was going to be charged $3,500 because I had signed up for a 5 year plan at $700 a year. I told them I never had done that and that they had told me I was purchasing lifetime protection. They told me I was mistaken and that I would be charged $3,500. I told them that I wanted to cancel immediately. Their response was that I could cancel but that I would be charged $700 for the past year. I said I had not been aware that I was being charged and that I refused to pay. They then told me that because I was so upset they were going to give me a discount of $500 but that I had to pay them immediately. I listened, I still don't know why, and paid them with a $500 Walmart gift card. Then I reported their shenanigans to be Better Business Bureau.
A couple of days ago, a despicable Geek Source liar claimed he was going to refund me my $500 but that I had to do it through the computer. I stupidly adhered to his directive and allowed him into my computer. At this point I have to change my bank account. Every person associated with that company is a thief

I received this email from a company called Geek Source. It claims I have a yearly subscription linked to an account, and I will be charged $1199.99. It also offers a number for cancellation / other assistance 1-800-736-3550. If this is the company I think this is, they scammed me back in late 2017/early 2018, by telling me I had a virus on my computer, and later my IP address was exposed. I ended up losing $1249 for services/downloads which were worm tools (did a virus scan on them). I have since changed the checking account where they got their fee from and changed my cell phone number, where they would call me periodically. They still email me, and wish they would stop. I will not call the 800 number, nor get in contact with them in any way. I did report them to the ScamPulse.com and Federal Trade Commission, too late in April of 2018. I no longer use the laptop they installed their tools on.

They sent me an invoice saying I've paid $499.00 for their services. I don't know where they charged that money - not my bank - if they really did. I don't want services from them and understand this is a scam. People who send these e-mails should be in jail!

I received a payment invoice saying I had paid $499 for their services. I have no idea where they took the money from that they allegedly say I paid. I have no use for their services and would like to get my money back, if I only knew where it came from or if they really got it. Whomever sends these e-mails should be in jail!

I received this email today in my junk mail. I did not respond to this email or agree to pay them for services. I do not do business with Geek-Source. Attached is the email received.

I have had several calls from Geek Source saying my account with them will automatically be charged $399.99 on Feb. 20, 2021. I called the number listed on both emails & sent them an email saying stop this supposed account. The man named Steve said the only way to cancel this account was to let them into my computer. Needless to say I didn't do that. The following email said "they were informing me per their records with their representative "Steve" with whom I missed-behaved". If telling some foreign speaking person that I will not open my computer and let him wonder around in it to supposedly cancel this account which I don't remember signing up for, then I guess I mis-behaved... I will be calling my credit card companies to inform them NOT to honor any payments to this company. Everyone BEWARE , IT'S A SCAM. Thank you

CAVEAT EMPTOR...BUYER BEWARE!
My experience is exactly the same as the location#49010: In October, 2018 they contacted me and said that my computer is hacked by some Russian and Hungarian sights. I purchased A LIFETIME PROTECTION from Geek Source for $399.99. Now in August and September, 2020 they are notifying me that they are "automatically renewing my contract for $492.80 for the next 3 years, and that if I want to cancel my account to call them at 1-866-582-1523. Then, in order for me to cancel I have to give them access to my computer and my banking site, WHICH I REFUSED. I talked to some Peter McQuill on August 7, 2020 (who speaks with a heavy Indian accent!), but when I refused to get on my banking site the issue was left unresolved. Today, 9/12/20 they sent me another email notifying me of "renewing my contract", that if I want to cancel to call the above mentioned number. I did call, had to leave a message. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO GET HOLD OF YOUR BANKING INFORMATION even if they offer you some discount! The reason they will ask you for a check number over the phone (and not a credit card number) is so they get your bank account info, that is why they can do these things.
This is a SCAMMING COMPANY and need to be shut down.

I keep getting email and phone solicitations to continue my network coverage. These scammers have even gotten me to let them remotely control my computer "to let them cancel my network coverage." I try to ignore their incessant calls and emails but it is very upsetting. They ate trying to extort 499.99 for a subscription and the caller cannot even tell me what it does. The number is 800 736 3550 and they leave threatening messages and emails. Please make them stop! Thank you

This company made something pop up on my computer. I fell for their scam and let them in my computer. I am naive and let them in again when they said they'd take out their software and give my money back. They took over my computer with their advanced software and almost got money from me. Now they sent me email that they're going to automatically take money from my account. I called them and told them they weren't allowed to do it. They claim I have a contract with them. The following is copy of message.

I was contacted to fix my computer by this company last fall. they would clean my computer for $305. They messed with my computer then took a check. I figured it was a scam and figured that it was my lose because of stupidity. Now they are contacting me wanting to refund by getting into my computer to refund me. When i demanded a check instead they want to money order me $2000 for me to then get a payment card from Target or ect and return $1400 back to them leaving me with my $305 refund and a $95 compensation credit, RIGHT.... They said that they were required to pay me back my $305 by the BBB.

My computer went black and appeared to crash. They came on and said that unless I did something right away my computer would crash completely and 'fixed my computer'. Now I get a call saying they are going out of business in North America and I need to call a number to get a refund. I did not call. To late I realized they were a scam.

I bought a new Surface Pro laptop Spring 2018. Within 3 weeks I got messages from what appeared to be Microsoft stating my laptop was corrupted with malware. I received a call from 800-385-6297 and after substantial persuasion by Daniel Hanley, Mark Clements and Harry? (ID badge # 48976) I was convinced to purchase a lifetime network and IP ID security coverage for $1500. I was told to call in each month for a security scan which they ended up calling me before I called them reporting they had detected malware and numerous attempts to hack my computer. I spoke with them about reviews that suggested their company was a scam but they continued to reassure that they recommended these securities for their own mother. Saturday 11/10 I received a call stating ransomware from North Korea had been detected and I should purchase an additional program for $1700 which I refused but they were very pushy stating I must send money order to 11601 Parsippany Terrace North, Potomac MD 20878 for another lifetime DNS security. I refused, blocked their phone numbers, closed computer took to computer tech person who uninstalled and reboot my computer minus their programs. 11/17 at 8 PM I received a call from 619-720-5434 stating Geek Source had closed their business and this person was going to refund my $1500 as I would not be receiving any further services. I was extremely reluctant and said so at least 10 times and was told in order to receive my refund they needed my computer to fill out needed form. He showed a mock up of a chase bank account stating he was taking money from that account and refunding directly into my account. My account showed up on the screen with my balance, then he "added the refund" but instead of $1500 he put in $7500 and insisted it was then my responsibility to return the $5000 by going to a Kruger grocer or Rite Aid for gift cards to pay him back. When I refused he showed my bank balance to be $0.0. I hung up called my bank immediately, bank account frozen immediately. Uninstalled further programs associated with Ultraviewer, Logmein and Anyplace. I have changed all my passwords and will have to meet with my bank to change my entire accounts.

Was on Facebook when a message appeared to call the phone number stating that a virus had infected computer. Tried to charge $529.98. My sister called them back for me and said it would not be paid. Reported incident to my bank. Nothing was charged to my account.

multiple errors when opening email, Microsoft was called, and the call transferred to another "tech" which was Geek Source. They supposibly corrected multiple issues and got information, and CC to charge for the one year of computer protection and services. My friend is elderly and this is just a horrible spam that needs to be stopped. The email that came to her is very obvious it isn't a true business and a spam.

These cards are like cash — a quick, convenient and untraceable way for con artists to get money. And even if the victim realizes they’ve been scammed, there’s typically no way to reverse the transaction

“Think of those digits on the back of these cards as cash. Giving that code to somebody is like giving them cash. If they’re asking for payment by an iTunes gift card, it’s a scam. Don’t do it.”

Thanks
