Glasgow Mini Dachshunds Home Reports & Reviews (1)

My husband and I were looking for a puppy we could love. I found this website online claiming to sell mini dachshunds for $650 plus $126 for shipping. We picked a puppy we loved and contacted the owner (a person claiming to go by the name of Paul Coleman). He sent an email back to us asking a lot of questions like: Have we ever owned a puppy before, and "what are our training beliefs". All questions leading us to believe they care for these "puppies". We answered all these questions and they sent us back information for payment as well as information on how the shipping process works. Being a person that has purchased puppies online in the past it all sounded legit. Before I sent money I researched the business, looking on ScamPulse.com and Been Verified to make sure they were legit. I also sent them an email telling them I didn't want to be scammed. He sent me an email back that stated that they were "God fearing Christains that did not believe in cheating people. They also stated that they were not doing this (breeding) as a soul income. He stated that both of them had a full time job and they were doing this for the compassion and experience" He also stated that if we send the money and they don't keep their end of the deal then I may "press charges against them". He gave me 4 different ways to pay. Zelle, Moneygram, American Express or Western Union. I chose to send the money western union (that should have been a flag right there, but I was so blinded by wanting a puppy I think I chose not to see it).

The next day I got an email stating they were on their way to the airport and will contact us when they drop the puppy off. So far everything was going smoothly until I recieved another email from ANOTHER company called Starbridge Pet Movers. They stated that they had our puppy in their possession and sent me the flight information with a confirmation number but I needed to pay ANOTHER $925 before shipment. $115 for a Covid test (on the puppy) and $810 for pet life insurance that was valid for 7 days. I was told that this would be refundable on successful delivery of the puppy. In a separate email they sent payment arrangements. I was told to send the payment to an individual person named Andrew Baithland in Virginia and it could be done by Western Union. This is when I started to get suspicious. I was wondering why a company would not accept any other form a payment and why it wasn't made out to the company and only 1 person. I immediately and informed him. He emailed me back and seemed surprised. I told him to call me right away (and provided my phone number). "Paul" refused to call me or even text me. He stuck with email communication. I started to get more suspicious that I was scammed. He told me to trust him and just "send them the money". I stated that I didn't have that money because I just sent him almost $800 the day before. I asked him if he could front the money for shipment. He told me that he didn't have it either. I asked him what happened to the money I sent him the day prior. His response was "Yesterday is past tense". This is where he started to become nasty. I told him that I was sorry but he would have to refund my money because I just can't afford the extra money. His comeback was "Are you kidding me right now"! I told him I was serious and asked when he could refund my money. He told me it was a 30 day money back guarantee so he had 30 days to refund it". The next day I contacted him again and told him I had another way to transport the puppy. There is a transport company that the ASPCA uses for their animals and it would only cost $300. I told him I was willing to front the money. His response was "Stop wasting your time" and that it "Wasn't gonna happen". I asked him why and he said only an expert could transport. I explain to him that they were experts and I even had them contact him with their credentials. He emailed me back and his last words were "Not happening" and " I have 30 days to refund your money". That is when I contacted the police in Chesapeake. They told me that it sounded like it was a scam and they have had many similar complaints. Anyways, the end result. I am out $800 and we are very sad and angry.
