Ace Firearms Shop Reports & Reviews (1)

- Hollister, CA, USA

Short version: I found a rare item online, ignored the dangers of what you might call a back-alley type of internet presence, didn't do more research that I could've at that point, but made a non-refundable payment, and then the "shipper" asked for more money confirming to me that it wasn't a legitimate business. Longer story: I was looking for a specific firearm, which seems to be part of the scam in that it's not easily find-able or available, it's a Mossberg 500 ATI Scorpion Tactical 12ga shotgun, one of many items on their website. It should be legal everywhere, so there should be no issues with what I'm looking for. In fact, if you search for it you'll find a bunch of websites with email or chat features to which no one responds, probably abandoned from prior scams. I sent an email asking if it could arrive within a certain amount of time (we're going on a trip soon and won't be home for awhile), and they actually replied so I thought this might be a real place. But it wasn't that formal of an email, and they were exchanging emails after 10 pm Pacific (the first clue I noticed but chose to ignore). They said it's in stock...and of course I was in a hurry with what I thought was a rare find. They wanted payment via Zelle, which I had only setup at that point and hadn't yet used, so I wasn't that familiar, but I thought well maybe it's a small business. Now looking back, there wasn't any location details on their website at all. I never tried the phone number. They did say up-front that the payment $472 including $25 shipping) is not refundable. So that was a red flag that I should've taken heed of, at least to do more research or ask more questions, like who do you use for shipping. But I went ahead. Then they sent a shipping confirmation from "FIINEXS" later that same day (Friday) that looks real enough, even with a tracking number that works on the website, and another weird thing is that they wanted me to confirm via email that the destination was correct - another flag but I had already paid. But of course I see now that no one's ever heard of this FIINEXS or FIINEX shipping company, except here on ScamPulse.com where they all receive "F" ratings. Then after the weekend FIINEXS sends me an email demanding "refundable load insurance" of $499 (I'm not going to pay them more!!) to release a hold on the package. After more emails with this shipping company and this business, to ask for more details like did it actually get picked up (said yes) and to explain to both of them that this wasn't part of the deal up front, they went silent ... a bit sooner than I expected actually. Once I saw that demand email I knew for sure it was a scam, and that I fell for it and it was too late. Yes I did ignore a few signs that were there - which is why I'm posting this: it's a pretty good-looking front that they have.
