I also got an email ostensibly from "Geek Quad" telling me my subscription would automatically renew for $417.17 at the end of the month unless I cancel it at a given telephone number. I responded to the email and got an automatic response that that email box is not monitored. I never had a subscription to Geek Squad. I don't even know what it is or what services they offer.

Received an email with legitimate looking logo automatically "renewing" my plan for $599.99. Phone # is 812 area code. Have not checked my accounts (yet).

I needed help with problems in my Quiken account and couldn't get Quicken's help on my phone or on the FAQ or on the Community help tab. So I called Geek Squad and was told there was a long wait. So I went to access the Geek Squad on the Best Buy account. I couldn't get to it so I went to the Geek Squad.com. While I waited on line I got a call from an 888 number saying they were the place the local Geek Squad went to when there was a Quiken issue. I asked him how I had reached him. He said since Geek Squad (G.S.) was very busy, G.S. used them for Quicken questions. We went through the usual screens to give him access. Then before he would do anything he made sure he got me to sign up for a 1-3 year protection plan with continued service after the 3 years for no cost. I already had Webroot protection and had just had a checkup 2 weeks ago by a real Geek Squad person but after asking why the issues hadn't been caught and received "plausible" answers, I took the 3 year plan for $499. Now I was getting strong reservations about this person, Adam Fisk. He had no badge # but did show me a page with lots of computer language, his name, phone 800 numbers, and extension. He was by now in my Quicken Account and I had given him access to my vault. I was really getting alarm bells after he thought I lived in Canada. He showed me some computer scripts saying why he thought my internet address was in Canada. While I was temporarily off the call I called Geek Squad (who wasn't familiar with Geek Squad Plus) and then looked up Geek Squad Plus on line. That's when I found out that G.S Plus was a scam site. How I got to I them through Best Buy I'll never likely know. But Geek Squad Plus is not a legitimate Geek Squad affiliate. Beware of this company. I've spent all day canceling credit and debit cards. Then I'll need to bring my desk top in to be scrubbed. I was in too much of a hurry to fix my Quicken to get my tax information that I did just what I wasn't supposed to do. Be smarter than me!

I have shut down my computer so the only other information I have is a second phone number: 8008243035 x 147. Probably all bogus.
