Acting as Nan Goldin Photography Reports & Reviews (10)

Same thing happened to me. I have a decent Instagram following and I get emailed things like this all the time. Usually they’re very obviously scams, but this one was a little more believable because of the application, website, and the fact that Nan Goldin is an actual photographer. The setup of the “get paid first” concept was weird, however, they weren’t asking for my ID, SS # or credit card info, so I figured it might just be an irregular arrangement. I became especially suspicious when the check I received was a cashiers check. When the cashiers check was immediately put on hold after I deposited it to a bank teller I knew this had to be a fake check scam. Sure enough I googled “Nan Goldin” scam and all this came up. The next day the check’s funds were “available in my account, but in the fine print I could see the check was still on hold. This is how they trick you. They try to get you to send the money while it’s “available” when in reality that money from the check will be reversed several business days later. I almost fell for this. Do not let this person scam you!

I just read through someone's report of exactly what happened to me. And I fell for it. I never had anything like this happen to me and didn't see an issue. What an [censored] I am. I am now going to the police tomorrow because I gave them my ID and SSN. Said that I got to keep $500. The rest went to the wardrobe maker. I had to send them an additional $200 today. All in steam wallet cards. I kept all of the texts and the receipts amd cards

I initially google nan goldin who is a legit photographer so i went through with it. Applied on Facebook, they texted from a (413) number. No formal introduction, no contract, had to ask specifics about dates and was not to be given a location until check/ funds sent to styling manager. The sent the tracking number and advised check would be in mail tomorrow, but their tracker advised it came today and the messages became urgent and aggressive. So i googled nan goldin commercial shoot specifically and this scam alert popped up thankfully ??

Shoe size :

I asked if they had a website I could check out and was sent to that application page. I then decided to look up the photographers name and adidas behind it to see if she had any relation working with them and I found it was a scam.

As a new model (2 months now), I saw a Facebook ad and I went on their website. I filled out the form after reading all the info 3 or 4 times. It felt like a too good to be true, but I didn't want to miss an opportunity because I was "skeptical". A stylist "Melvin" contacted me for sizes and measurements, then sent me a check about $8,000 via fedex. It is a fake check and I even asked my modeling coach "Stikks" if it was a scam. She told me, then once I was officially home, I told my dad and he referred me to this site to report it. I blocked Melvin, the stylist awhile ago, but screenshot the sites and a message. This site was down by the time my dad and I looked at it together yesterday. The email is: [email protected] that was used, but above, it says it's invalid now.

I ALMOST fell through with it. I signed up, because money always sounds good, but the way the contract was set up. A random number text me asking for measurements which I thought was unprofessional being that there was no introduction.
I emailed and text saying I was deciding not to commit and they emailed me back with “why?”
So scary, I did share my address and headshot, but nothing more. Also the email it self was sketch.

This literally happened to me because I applied online for a modeling agency but I figured it was a scam because they way the person was texting...their English was way off. It made no sense, so I blocked them but the sent me a paycheck of 4,500 dollars what do I do?
