My boyfriend and I were looking to purchase an Australian Shepherd when we came across his listing on a rescue page. He then emailed me and requested I filled out a questionnaire. Then proceeded to aggressively call and email me telling me I needed to send him $150 before I came to meet the puppy. When I questioned him he grew very ignorant, insisting he is a Christian man and would never commit fraud or theft. I had not even mentioned fraud , so that was a red flag. I immediately told him I would report him to the authorities.

I emailed amazing aussie puppies.com and told him (robert) my story about losing my aussie a week ago. I found this site online and the puppies were reasonable. I asked him if he had any older pups that were cheaper due to tight finances. I even shared my story about my aussies passing. he emailed me back several hours later and said I'm so glad to see there are people out there that love animals like you do. He said how much can you afford? I told him 250 max. He said that's fine. It's not all about him making money, as long as the puppy was safe. He asked for my phone number then texted me immediately. we went back and forth. I just had a weird feeling. I asked him if the dog was a female or male because when he sent me the info on the dog some of it said he and some said she . So I was confused. He never answered my question. he said he was from VA. I live 3 1/2 hrs away in PA so I said I would like to come pick up the dog. He said it will be easier for me to send her. That was my first real red flag. I had this voice in my head from when I got my last 2 aussies saying a good breeder will have no problem with you coming to see where the dog comes from. But mourning the loss of my aussie I was desperate for a puppy so I told him ok. He said he will contact his lawyer and have a agreement of sale written up. He then emailed me the agreement and asked me to sign it. THANK GOD something told me not to sign it. The English was poor , the name of the dog on the agreement was incorrect, and the names on the contract didn't match the name of the man I was talking too. He texted me about 20 times saying he cant believe I was doubting him , and hes a Christian man , he would never lie. He mas morals..blah blah. I googled everything. His name, the address didnt even exist. That was another red flag. When I put the address in it came up as a parking lot for a hotel. I told him I wasnt comfortable giving my bank info out so he said no problem dear..just go to walmart and get a walmart gift card or a amazon gift card. Put the money on it and take a picture and send it to me. I'm so thankful I didnt go thru with this. I didnt give up googling every little detail ..finally I found this. There is no way a breeder would charge me 250 for a puppy, and eat the bill for flying him to pa. He said shipping was completely free. Do your research everyone.

I AM DEALING WITH THE SAME EXACT MAN. Oh my goodness.

- Las Vegas, NV, USA

I communicated with this person, Adam Richardson to purchase an Australian shepherd. I google their business and name and did not see any results for pet scams or problems with the breeder. I paid $800 through Zelle to this person, he had trouble getting Zelle to work and gave me multiple emails ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) this should have been a red flag but he seemed like he was just having trouble with the app. After I made payment he stated he would ship the animal, I then received an email from [email protected] stating the animal was being shipped. Then I got an email asking for $950 for an impact crate for the animal to be shipped and they would refund me the money once the animal was delivered. I called the company to find out what was going on at 1-972-313-1300 and spoke with someone who was very rude and kept talking over me saying that I needed to send the money. I asked why they could not take a credit card payment to hold like any other rental company and they stated only cash and demanded I wire the money. I asked for their business information and they hung up on me. I then emailed the breeder multiple times and finally got a hold of him via phone. He stated he was unable to get the animal from the shipper as I was the owner now. Funny I had not signed anything. I told him that is not what the shipping company said, they told me to contact you. I asked for a refund as I obviously was not getting the dog and he hung up on me and blocked my number. I then called the shipping company back and stated again I do not have the money to rent the crate and offered to come to pick up the dog and I needed the address she was being kept at. The man on the phone that sounded just like the breeder than told me to borrow money from friends and family to get the dog shipped as he did not allow pick up. I said I had no one to borrow money from and I would just drive there to get the dog. He then processed to tell me there was a $50 fee per day the dog was there and that if I did not pay by the 20th the puppies would be sent to the state and euthanized. I again asked for the address to come to pick up the dog and or send dog back to shipper he again started demanding I pay very aggressively, I then asked him how many people this scam works on? he hung up on me.
