Recieved 2 calls with Sam recorded message posing as Amazon. Pressed one and was transferred to a person with a heavy foreign accent stating that they needed personal information.

Have received over 15 Calls today regarding a breach on my i-cloud account. I have requested that they stop calling, but to no avail.

- Atlanta, GA, USA

I received a call from a robodialer claiming to be Amazon's customer service department and that an iPhone 11 was purchased on my account. When talking to the representative, he indicated that an iPhone 11 had been purchased on my Amazon account and that they were giving a courtesy call to allow me to confirm or cancel the order. No such order appeared in my Amazon orders summary. The caller could not indicate the name on my account or the email address associated with it.

The caller wanted to send me an email with a pdf of instructions to reverse the charge. They had no credentials other than their claim to be calling from Amazon. When pressed, they said they were from the collections department and that to confirm any orders, I'd need to speak to the customer service department but that they were not able to connect me. They then threatened that there was no other way for me to reverse this charge and that someone had hacked my account.

I verified that I have no orders by contacting Amazon directly and thanked the caller for wasting my time.

Automated. Said Amazon account was being used or attempted log in around China and Russia. Wanted me to log in to another website to verify.

I received an email in my spam folder stating an ordered shipment from Amazon was shipped to my name but not to my address. The email wanted to notify me that me that my order was shipped. If I had not purchased the items I should call the customer service number. I did not make the purchase. I called the number and informed Jason Patel that I had not made a purchase or ordered the products listed. I was informed that someone used my email to set up an Amazon virtual credit card and charged the information. I was then instructed to seek out an Amazon store to apply for an Amazon credit card so they could use the information to identify me as the proper owner. Due to the fact that there is no Amazon store near me, I was told to go the Ingles Grocery store and purchase a Target card for $500 and give them the information on the card and the security code. This was to be as a way of distinguishing me from other people using an Amazon virtual credit card. I refused. The called very suspicious to me.

On June 22, 2020 I called a number I found online for Amazon to get authorization to return an item for which I have already received a refund. After a very confusing conversation, Chris Wilson, the person who I talked with, claimed to have mistakenly deposited $8000 into my bank account. There was no reason for any money to have been returned to me. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to return the $8000 or he would be fired. I refused and his "boss" Leonardo got on the phone and insisted I return the money to them My wife had been listening to this conversation and told them there was no way we would send them $8000. Mr. Wilson said we could return $3000 that night and the remainder the next day. We still refused and said we would go to our bank on June 23rd and let them correct any problem. A deposit for $8000 never showed up in our bank account. The gentlemen then said we could go to a grocery store and purchase a gift card for $3000 and send to them. We tried to end this conversation and they threatened to disable our computer which they did. The computer service we use corrected this problem later that evening.

Someone using the phone number called several times June 23rd and we did not answer. That number is 833-528-4685.

I applied for an Amazon job using the website Dice.com. The next day, a person contacted me claiming to be an employee of Amazon using the email address: [email protected]. Before I saw the email, he had also contacted me via text message using phone number 616-449-9188 for an interview. We set up a text-based interview process through Skype using this same email address. He seemed like he was mostly interested in getting my personally identifiable information with basic job questions in between, possibly so he/she can steal my identity. I applied for the job through dice.com which is supposed to be a reputable website. The person said their name was Paul Johnson but I know that is not true. It's a fairly common name so it could be somewhat difficult to track. The Amazon offer letter also came from this same email address. The instructions were for me to sign it, scan it, and email it back to this individual with a copy of my drivers license or passport. They also said Amazon would be sending me a check (sic) to purchase software that will allow me to perform the job tasks. The letter had the Amazon logo at the top with Jeff Bezos name at the bottom, but it was full of errors and unprofessional. When I told him I was on to him during the second Skype interview, he basically stopped responding. This scheme is designed to prey on innocent people looking for a job. PLEASE BE AWARE!!! Do not give out any personal information. This is a scam!! I was told by Amazon they never even received my application for the jobs that I had applied for through Dice!

+1

Thank you so much for your clear explanation. Even today I got email from same person with same email address and they contacted me for position in Partners Healthcare. From beginning there is something off so I stopped in middle of conversation and requested ID from him and after that he stopped responding.
