Concerned how they got my address and information..

Receive a letter and check stating that I'm to be a shopper for American Express Gift Cards.

Received a phone call on February 22 2021 at 5:45 PM. Caller ID said American Express. It was a recorded call from Spectrum. Suspect it was a scam and I hung up.

I applied for a credit card on line through Credit Karma anyway I was turned down for the American Expess Card. The next day (today) I received a email from "American Express" saying that they have changed their mind. Please enter my social security number and credit card if any. The page looks fake.

I received a text message that read: "urgent message" with a link to website which I will not click on.

A family member answered our land line, home phone, from the phone number: 800-592-1160 as our caller id wasn't functioning. "Hello," was said and female voice came on and responded, is this "Mr. ______,_______? My family member was taken by surprise and couldn't remember exactly what was said. A few minutes later, my family member told the female that there wasn't trust in this phone call, with her responding that we should call the number on the back of the card. At that point, the call was terminated. We have received many calls from this, and other similar phone numbers in the past disguising themselves as American Express.

Once I opened the site, it asked me for my security code on the back of my American Express card. Please check this out. And I highly doubt that American Express would ever do this. Mahalo!

I received a mandatory notice, purportedly from American Express, that I had to update my profile because of a security report issued on my account . An attached form was provided to update my profile which I was to download and fill out. I did not respond to the email.

To proceed, An attached HTML Fillable Web Form is sent with this message. - See Attached Information Form, Download and Open to Continue. Thank you for your Card Membership. American Express Customer Care" The attached form asks for your account number, expiration date, security number, your date of birth, and the answer to several security questions.

This number called a business, using an automated message, called telling us to call the provided number back regarding an important matter with an American Express card. After a simple google search, others had noted that they called the number back and the people on the other end are wanting to validate your social security number and credit card number.

I have been receiving calls at my home regarding my American Express card. The only American Express card I have is Dillards and when I called them, they said they did not call me. When I tried to call the number left on the phone, it was rerouted to a different number than dialed and a foreign sounding man asked for my account number and social security number. I told him no and hung up. I then called Dillards and reported my card lost or stolen and had another number issued. today, I received an email for American Express asking that I complete a mandatory form on my account. This form has asked all the questions that I would not give out to ANYONE as it it is the normal questions asked like my childs middle name, elementary school attended, etc. Red Flags went up and again I did NOT answer this information. If they ARE my company, they would already have this information.

Victim was contacted via text message saying she won a $500,000 grant and she would need to send $600 through moneygram to Pratt Pillery in Kansas (no address given). After victim sent the $600, she was contacted saying she would need to make an additional $500 payment, when she said no they said she is available for $3.5 million. Victim did not send 2nd payment. At some point scammer mentioned to victim their affiliation with American Express.

Received a phone call in which the person said a charge had been made on our American Express card in New York and he was from the AE security department investigating to determine if it was a legitimate purchase. He tried to get us to log into a sight on our computer to show us how the information was obtained through our IP address. We surrendered our AE card in a bankruptcy in 2015 and informed him of that. He continued to try to get us to log into the computer site until we finally hung up.

Trying to get the person to say "yes".

I have had a Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express for a long time. When I log into my account, I have an offer that says that if I refer a friend and the friend is approved, I will receive $75 for every approved referral, and the referred person will receive $200 if she spends $1,000.00 in three months. Last night, on October12, 2017, I referred a person. That person received an email from American Express that she had been referred by me. All she had to do was to use the link that came in the email to apply for the credit card; but when she hit the apply now button, the name that appeared on the application was my name instead of hers, and she could not change it to her name. The application said that I had been pre-approved when I have had the card for many years and I was the referring person. I referred her twice thinking that first time had been a mistake; but my name continued appearing as if I was applying for that credit card and that I had been pre-approved again. My friend tried to fix that by chatting with someone from American Express online; but she was told that she had to call Customer Service. When she called Customer Service the representative who talked to her offered her different other types of American Express Cards, but never the one that she was trying to apply for. Finally, after a while, after being persuaded to open another type of card, she said she was not interested in any other card and then, she was transferred with another representative who was going to help her with the application over the phone. When she explained the offer we both had, and the problem that she encountered with my name on the application instead of hers, and that she did not have the choice of changing it to her name when she received the email from American Express to apply online, she was told that the offer for both of us was only for online applications; but since she was going to do it by phone, the referring person would not receive the $75 as promised online and she would only receive $150 reward points instead of $200 reward points as promised online. She explained again that she wanted someone to help her online, but she was told that nobody could. That is when I realized that that was a scam by their part, since the link American Express sent does not come with the name of the applicant person and they know it.
