Got an email from a "Jean Weiss," supposedly with Angio-Design Ltd. , with a work-from-home job offer for copywriter/proofreader/editor. Said she found my Indeed resume & I looked good for the job. Day or so later, handed me off to a "Chloe McDermott" who conducted an hour-long interview where I answered a lot of questions about copywriting, editing, proofreading, time management, and other typical HR-sounding questions. Seemed legit. Hour later, Congrats, I passed the interview. On to a probationary week of "training" starting the next day, where I am to complete assigned tasks as a freelancer for $45/hr; after successful completion of training week, I would be hired for $50/hr, a company rep would visit me with employment papers to sign, explain benefits, etc. I did the first day of training, where I proofread/marked up a medical article on subject matter that seemed appropriate to the job & emailed it back to Chloe. (Four hours of my time wasted, as it would turn out.) Meanwhile, Chloe was sending me a "check for your Home Office Set-up i.e Software and Hardware" to be "delivered to you via FedEx Courier Service". Chloe had previously told me I was to receive office equipment of a macbook pro, flatbed scanner, fax machine, laser printer, Grammarly and AP Stylebook software. Red flag: her timing was off. Why would they send me a check before I had even worked one day? The next day, (second day of training) Chloe emailed me the fedx tracking number and said "I'll be available on-line by 10 am today via Google Hangouts to provide you with further instructions when the package is delivered." A package was delivered an hour or so later by FedX as promised, a check for $1995.20 made out to me on a check printed with a very pixilated logo Devier Enterprises, LLD in Mandeville, LA 70741 (they're a construction company - why would they be paying me for doing work for Angio-Design? red flag) routing number 000073417 (which doesn't exist according the ABA, red flag); the check number was not at the end of the routing and account number on the check ('nuther red flag); FAKE CHECK. Before the check had arrived my spidey senses were tingling. I had already started Googling Chloe and Angio-Design, and found the scam reports about them on scampulse.com. On Google Hangouts with Chloe, I messaged her that Fedx had arrived, and attached an image of the legit CEO of Angio Design's letter exposing Chloe as a scammer. Chloe told me to "Destroy the check when you receive it." I did not. I'm saving it since it is evidence. The senders name on the FedX airbill/envelope that contained the check is Susan Paige of GoPro, Inc., 3000 Clearview Way, San Mateo, CA 94402

I received the same, almost identical email as lghjlkm111 - I did the first day of "training" and felt something was off with "Chloe," so I Googled around and found these scampulse posts. "Chloe" said she had found my resume on Indeed. I had set up Indeed alerts for copywriter/editor/proofreader jobs, so initially it seemed legit. I sent a LinkedIn message to Angio Design's CEO Richard Waterfield, asking him to post a warning about "Chloe" on his LinkedIn page, if he hadn't already.

I just had the same scam experience as reported by Private1579127525: "Chloe McDermott" (email address: [email protected]) found my resume on Careerbuilder, interviewed me via GoogleHangouts, and offered me the Copywriter/Editor position paying $45/hour the first week and $50/hour thereafter. At first it seemed legit enough but she kept making strange requests. Finally after a week I decided to contact AngioDesign's CEO on LinkedIn, and he confirmed my suspicions:

My initial contact was *** *** who forwarded information to reach out to *** *** at [email protected] for an interview today which I was hired today to train making $45 an hour and $50 an hour at hire which sounds to good to be true. I am awaiting paperwork to arrive via email at 8 am that must be completed and returned via email by 10 am. Please investigate and let me know. They found my resume' on Careerbuilder I was told.
