Scammers spoke with Indian accent and stated they were with Apple Computer. They made initial contact through either malware or through a pop up warning (like a pop up add) that appeared on my parent's cpu. The add told them they had been hacked. My parents are senior citizens and did not understand the nature of what they were seeing. They followed instructions to call 888 417 4062 where they were advised they were speaking with Apple Technical Support. The person they spoke to said his name was David and after an hour long phone call were advised to pay $200 via EBay card so that Apple could clean their computer. The scammer stated it had to be an EBay card because Apple would "never ask for credit card information over the phone." When my parents obtained the card they contacted 888 417 4062 once again and gave the EBay card information. This time the scammer advised that the EBay card didn't work and that they needed to get another EBay card for $200.

I found out on their second trip to CVS to get the second EBay card what was happening and told them to stop. When I called into the 888 417 4062 number, the operator said they were Microsoft Technical Support in an Indian accent.

They call and state they are shutting down their company and they are refunding your money back. He stated that he would put the money back in my online banking account. She informed him that she did not have an online banking account and he advised that he could set on up and asked for my banking information. They also wanted to swap out my Norton Security for Alpemix V 4.0. The name Ray Jackson was mentioned while I was on the phone with them. He advised that she would be getting back $300 as the refund.

While working at my computer a window popped up saying someone was trying to break into my computer and I should call this number for help. I did and the guy said he was an Apple computer tech and wanted to sell me a security program. I totally fell for it and paid him $900 for a 3 year plan for two computers. He actually gave me Malwarebytes -- it is a free program available online! I fell for it. He even got me to pay for it on Pay Pal, calling my payments "gifts", plus payment with some iTunes cards. I should have known!

I've been changing passwords on all my sites and had my computers and phone inspected by Apple for cookies he may have installed.

I was suspicious but he was a good talker.
