Attorney General Reports & Reviews (3)

- Dallas, TX, USA

Using Instagram they posed as someone I knew! They said they were giving grant money out from the Attorney Generals Office! They needed credit card info and a pic Id!

Attorney General said that I just called him, which I didn't. He got me to say "yes", which could have been recorded and used as part of identity theft.

I had an automated message left saying that my name had a lawsuit filed against it and I needed to call the Attorney General at 206-905-1590. I called the number and was told my husband had borrowed some money and had not paid it back so a law suit had been filed. I told them my husband had passed away (which is true) and he said that I would be responsible for the suit. He gave me the company name, the date of the transaction and the amount. I doubted everything he said, but he was persistent. Afterwards I looked up the phone number on the Internet and it was listed on a web site for bad numbers where other people had reported similar conversations including getting a letter with the seal of the Florida Attorney General. They did not ask me for money, but said the government would be sending me a subpoena. This just happened last night, so I have not received any mail yet. They said the law suit was filed by Cash Advance USA. My husband was the initial victim, but I also was included.
