Australian Opal Direct Reports & Reviews (3)

My fiance purchased an opal ring from Australian opal direct and we received it and I noticed the light through the "gem" and it looks like polished resin and a sticker of opal. We emailed and they said it was a triplet. Nowhere in the add did it say triplet and we had to look and look for where it said what it was. Then, it doesn't give a description of what a triplet is. The amount of opal we received after having it appraised is about $20-$50 and $50 being on the highest end.. We are very dissatisfied and feel like he wasted his hard earned money which was hundreds over the value of the ring. No one should get ripped off by these people again!

My fiancé bought a ring from this website, which promised genuine blue fire opals. The website advertises the website as a 100% genuine opal and has no mention of sending a triplet, which is a sliver of a genuine opal with glass or crystal layers underneath. I had the ring appraised; it is valued between $35 and $75... He paid $600 for it. They also took down the listing right after he bought it and have not answered his emails.

Same exact thing happened to me. He proposed with this ring. I only noticed because the light caught it just so and I saw right through it and it was clear so I wondered why... He wanted the ring to be just right as it was special and represented the rest of our lives. Over paid by hundreds and got $20 of opal.
