AZ Certificate Service Reports & Reviews (9)

Received a letter from AZ Certificate of Service, asking for a check or money order for $87.25 "2021 Certificate of Good Standing Request Form." I did some research and saw this was a total SCAM. How is this company even get a one star rating. They should be banned from doing business in Arizona. We are reporting this company to the Arizona Attorney General's office - fearful of how many people have been scammed thus far by them.

I received an official looking letter just after forming an LLC. It was noted that I need to pay AZ Certificate Service $77.25 by check or money order. I have neither, so I called the number which just rang and rang. I used a search engine to find the business website but nothing came up except a lot of scams being reported for this very thing!!! Thank you to those who reported this before me! I have included a picture for anyone who may want to see it. Notice just above the payment portion it says "this is not a government agency". You can apparently get this Certificate of Good Standing directly from the Arizona Corporation Commission website. Sad to see these jerks scamming people just starting their new business. It is already stressful, confusing, complicated, and expensive enough of a process without having weed through the scammers too. Hope this helps someone else who might search for it. And, hey, congrats on your new business ventures! You can do it!!!

My business was sent correspondence about this very official looking letter talking about a 2021 Certificate of Good Standing Request Form. The letter was post marked from Tampa, FL, even though the return mail address was to 2875 W. Ray Rd. After doing some initial looking up of what this is, the Arizona Corporation Commission says the following: "A Certificate of Good Standing may be obtained online using the SERVICE feature, for a fee of $45 ($10 fee plus $35 expedite fee). In the alternative, you may submit a paper Records Request form by mail or in person at 1300 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85007." This letter is a scam and should not be heeded. If you need a Certificate of Good Standing (i.e. you are a lawyer), then you should get it from the Arizona Corporation Commission themselves, not some fake organization looking to scam new businesses out of their hard earned money. Let me be very clear: THIS IS A SCAM, DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY.

This comany is trying to scam new local businesses telling them they have to have a AZ Certificate of Good Standing and the cost is $77.25. THAT IS A LIE

If this is actually required by a bank or financial institution the AZCC requries $10.00 and issues the certificate themselves. This is a complete scam and has no bearning nor is it required to do unless asked. Their form is misleading and makes it look like you must have it or you put your business at risk.

I recently registered a business with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). I received a "2021 Certificate of Good Standing Request Form" which I did NOT request. The form requests a $77.25 payment be sent to a Chandler address, along with my email address, phone number, printed name, and signature. I know the Arizona Corporation Commission is NOT located in Chandler and they do NOT abbreviate Arizona as "AZ." I Googled AZ Certificate Service and confirmed that this is a scam and others have reported similar scams from the same bogus company.

Within days of opening an LLC, a letter was received... from the "AZ Certificate Service", stating there is 'one step left'. There's a fee of $77.25 and affords a 'Certificate in Good Standing', which 'may be required for loans, to renew business licenses, or for tax or other business purposes'. The trigger for me, was they listed a 'document number' that did not relate to any information I had. Then I noticed the VERY small writing where it should say 'return the bottom portion with your payment', that said 'This is not a government agency'. This is a scam, and they are preying on new or first-time business owners. How are they allowed to advertise like this in the name of the Secretary of State? Who is holding these companies to rules and/or ethics? Just because this is under $100 doesn't mean people are not being harmed. They are free to gather our information because we are required to make a new business public, but we should NOT become victims day one!

I received the attached letter a month after starting an LLC in Arizona asking me for $77.25 to receive a Certificate of Good Standing. After researching on the internet and discussing with my accountant, it was determined to be a scam.

Hello. I am writing to report what I perceive to be a scam. I just applied for an LLC entity (Creative Wellbeing Workshops) in the state of AZ. I received a notice in the mail for a Certificate of Good Standing request form for 77.25 from an organization called the AZ Certificate Service. I've attached the letter. They make it look like you would go through them to get a Certificate of Good Standing when I know that this is something that the AZ Corp Commission issues. I called this company to ask them about it and whether they were representing a governmental agency. They said said no, they just expedite the process. Even if they are not a scam, I would like to lodge a complaint against them for presenting themselves as the source of these documents of good standing which they are not. It is only because I have had to get certificates of good standing from another state DC that I know they are issued by a governmental agency that I suspected that this was a misrepresentation. Others who are just going into business and getting their LLC might not realize this and be fooled into thinking they have to pay this organization to get that certificate.
