There is a house in rental perfect a craigslist. There is no address, just the rent is $2200 in “the heart of Livermore.” I contacted the posting on 8/30 and the owner replied to me the same day saying it is available and to fill out a rental application. I filled out the application and this included my name, current address, birth date, work address, bank name, income, and social security number. The next day she said I was approved and would like to rent the house to me but she needed a “commitment/security deposit” because there were other renters interested. She sent me a lease agreement and asked for the receipt for the deposit. I said I do not feel comfortable sending money to a potential stranger when I have not seen the property. She said I would be able to do a walk through on 9/25 when the current renters moved out, but to not bother the current tenants. She asked for the deposit again and to be wired to an account number she gave me. I said I would not feel comfortable seeing the property first before giving any money. All communication was done through email.
