Diamond Aircraft Reports & Reviews (1)

My significant other was looking for a WFH job as a graphic designer and someone reached out to him and started communicating with him through Skype. This company was supposedly based in Austria and Europoe. They weirdly only did the “interview” through text messaging and they said he passed the interview. Even after the interview, they made him “report” through Skype only at 8 AM and it was only to text for a couple minutes regarding “onboarding” stuff. Most of it was them asking him questions about his identity. They even gave out legitimate looking documents but it was weird how they wouldn't call or video call even during the onboarding process. 2 days passed by and they sent my partner an envelope containing a letter and a check for $3800 supposedly for him to buy equipment for himself for the WFH job. The USPS envelope itself had a name and company that wasn’t even affiliated with the job he’s applying for. The envelope says it came from a Shay Lenius and it was from an Astromundo Insurance Agency in NYC. The letter says “hello recipient” and nothing on it with the company’s logo. It even had some sort of emoji in the second page. Nothing about it was professional or legitimate looking. The instructions from the letter were weird - they were asking to send a picture of the check and confirmation of receiving it to the email address “[email protected]” under their payment office Joe Fitzgerald. The “hiring” manager, Samuel Slager, kept asking for updates when he could easily just look on the USPS website to see if it was delivered or not. When we looked at the check, the check itself too was from another, different place and name. It was under Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College. We decided to call the hiring manager at this point to get some clarification on why everything was all over the place. The hiring manager accused my s/o of wanting to run away with the money we haven’t even deposited yet. He was insistent of getting it deposited right away. We asked for the contact information of the their supposed Finance Head but he stated that the finance head was busy and unable to talk at the moment but still refused to give the contact information to us. He proceeded on trying to scare us over text that all calls are being monitored even though he dropped the call as soon as he heard me on coaching my partner on the line to get answers out of him. We went to the bank to see if the check was legitimate and they said they’re unable to say (if it will bounce back until it’s actually deposited) but they said it looked legitimate and the account number was real. Even on LinkedIn, if you try to look up the people they’re using to pose as hiring manager or what not, it looks like they built profiles about them too but everything on their profile is usually empty or made very very recently.
