- Columbus, OH, USA

Last week, I sent a prayer request through text to people because my son is in ICU. One of the people I contacted, contacted me about a government program, and through the program would be able to help and to text Mary Walker at 631-333-1829. I've been going back and forth with them. I told them my name, email, monthly income and address. Then they said congratulations you quailify for a free grant. Then I had to go in and pick the amount of money I want. Because I chose $50,000 I needed to pay a $500 processing fee. They asked me to go to a nearby pharmacy and buy Macys or Nike gift cards. I said now wasn't a good time. They asked why, I said I'm working. I told them I would go at 7pm. They kept asking me to keep it confidential as they don't want everybody to know about the grant. The whole time I'm texting them, I'm also Instant Messaging my friend who is assuring me Fedex will deliver the money. I asked her how she verified to FedEx who she was. I asked her to show me some proof that she received the money, and whether it cleared the bank. At 7pm I started getting texts saying it's after 7pm have you gotten the gift cards. I've been scammed before by a grant scam, exactly like this, a couple of years ago just after I bought my home, and was trying to do a lot of renovations. I lost about a $1000 buying gift cards. It took me a long time to get over tht, and this has brought back the whole thing.
