Fake State Farm Reports & Reviews (1)

I first received an email stating that my resume was viewed through one of the online job sites, with instructions to download Google Hangouts to go through employement interview. I subsequently received a text message a few days later asking if I was still available for the employment position, so I responded and found the email that was sent a few days earlier.

After dowloading "Hangouts", I was contacted by someone "Ellen Bernstein" claiming to represent Louise Bernstein, a StateFarm Agent. I looked up the site online and seemed legitimate. The conversation began with this person listing all the awards the "Agency" has received, then asking me to fill out 15 questions as part of the interview. I did provide my name and address but no S/S#. After having my responses "reviewed by her supervisor" I was informed that I was HIRED! This did seem a bit too easy, but I've been seeking employment for some months so pursued it.

I was informed that I would have to work from home for a few weeks until they opened a new office in my area and I would be allotted funds to buy the equipment necessary to establish a home office. I was told that a check would be FedExed and she would provide a tracking number. The next day I was to report and the conversation with very indirect and just not business-like. I could also discern an "accent" or that English was not this person's first language; their grammer was off. When I questioned why I wasn't contacted directly by phone or even if she was related to the agency's owner, I was never given a direct answer. I was always asked to report back at 8:00 am (my time) on the following day. This morning, she contacted me with the same inane greeting of how was my weekend, then my evening. When I asked her to please get to the reason for our chat, the response was that I was being rude and in such a hurry. Finally, I called the office from the website

17107 Pines Blvd

Pembroke Pines, FL 33027

Phone number (954) 435-7776

and was told that this was a SCAM using their agency and that this had been reported and was bening investigated.

I hope that this will help in bring a stop to this. I'm unsure of how they were planning on defrauding me and I fear that I've made myself suseptible somehow to identity theft. Please advise if there is anything else I can do to safekeep myself and family and also to prevent this from happening to someone else.
