I contacted Farmland Pugs to purchase a puppy from their website. I was sent text messages and emails on October 5, 2020 that they had a puppy I could purchase. The cost including transport by air was $1050. I was told via email to deposit the money into an  account for XXXXXXXXXXX, account # XXXXXXX, routing # XXXXX. I did that on October 6, 2020. The next day I received an email from EasternAir Cargo that the puppy needed a temperature controlled crate. The cost to "rent" this would be $1,000. I would get the money back once the puppy was delivered. The money was to be sent via e-transfer to XXXXXXXXXXXX at [email protected]. I sent the money on October 7, 2020. Then on October 8, 2020 I was again contacted via email from EasternAir Cargo that the puppy needed pet travel insurance, again the money would be refunded upon delivery. The cost of the pet insurance was $1250. The name was the same, XXXXXXXXXXXXi but the email address was different, [email protected]. I didn't send the money this time.

Looking to purchase a pug dog from Breeder. On October 5 found a Google Ad for Farmlandpugs.com in San Antonio TX. Contacted them and agreed on a price that included shipping of $500. Money sent via Zelle, against my better judgement. Dog is to be picked up tomorrow at airport, however since I sent the payment, I cannot get in touch with the company and they aren’t returning calls or emails. I looked them up on ScamPulse.com and found a complaint that was reported just days before. Looks like this is a puppy scam.

We were looking to purchase a pug from a breeder. Based on an internet search, we found www.farmlandpugs.com. I submitted an online form requesting more information on Wednesday, September 30th. I received a text back on Thursday, October 1st at 11:45am asking a few basic questions to gauge our interest: Why have you chosen this breed? How often are you at your home? What is your environment like, what is your family like? Would you like to pick the puppy or have him shipped. I answered their questions and even sent photos of our family. They responded that they had a puppy available for adoption. Since they were located in Texas, we said we would like it shipped to our home. They asked for our address and then drafted a contract that we filled out and returned that evening. They said that they could not ship the puppy until payment was received. We sent the first payment that night of $1,050.00 to secure the puppy. I tried to get more information about when we would receive the puppy and the “breeder” said he was working on it but hopefully by Sunday. We received a booking confirmation on Saturday, October 3rd at 5:23am with flight information. At 11:13am that morning we received an “URGENT” email from the shipping company stating that the breeder dropped the puppy off in a crate that could not be shipped and that we would need to place a deposit on a rental temperature controlled crate for it to be shipped.

I called Eastern Cargo and I spoke to a man named Eduardo…he asked how we preferred to pay and I said Zelle. He assured me it would be fully refundable upon delivery of the dog. We sent another $1,200.00 via Zelle. At 2:21pm that same day we received another email stating that the puppy needed Pet Travel insurance (again refundable). This time they were asking for $980.00. My husband called the shipping company again and asked if there would be an additional surprise payment required and we were told no. He reluctantly sent the money. This morning we received the third and final email from the shipping company asking for us to purchase Transfer of Ownership Certificates.

At this point, per the shipping itinerary the dog had already completed the first leg of the transfer and now was in Denver and essentially stuck. My husband called the shipper again and was told it was a necessity to pay. He was frustrated. He then called the Breeder who told us he would speak with the shipper and make sure that the dog and the refund was processed today. He said if we did not send the money to get the dog off the tarmac we could be charged with animal endangerment. So we sent the final payment of $880.00 refundable dollars via Zelle. The dog was scheduled to arrive at 3:30pm. At 3:45pm when we still had not received the puppy, I called the shipper and he picked up. Eduardo Wolff (the same man we had been speaking to) said the dog missed his flight in Denver and that we would have it tomorrow. We called back shortly after and they now are not picking up nor answering text messages.
