Applied for a govt grant. Was later contacted by a Williams Smith at 415-878-5194. His email is [email protected]. Claimed he was a govt agent in charge of the federal assistance program. Said I was approved for $40,000 but I would need to pay $1,000 in taxes to their govt cashier named Betty Speight in Wilson, NC. I believed it. They had me send the money thru money gram. Then they said they would be delivering the money cash to my door. And on a Sunday. That's when I woke up & realized it was a scam. There is no mail delivery on a sunday. Smith demanded $3,000 for the money to be delivered. I said no way. This man or whoever he is begun texting me & gmail me 24 hrs a day. Demanded his money. Police advised me not to have any more contact with this person. Smith has a copy of my drivers license. Smith has No SSN or no other info. 2 weeks later & he is still messenging me.

I applied for a government grant with the Federal Assistance Program. Their website looked legitimate. This was 3 weeks ago. They contacted me by gmail & said I can apply, provide a copy of my drivers license & they needed $1000 by money gram to the govt cashier in Wilson, NC named Betty Speight to process my application. I paid the fee. If I qualified, I would get a govt grant. They contacted me 2 weeks later & said that I qualified for a $40,000 grant. They said they would deliver the $40,000 in cash to my doorstep here in Ft. Wayne, IN. I became suspicious at that point. No mail gets delivered on Sundays. I looked at the govt website again & everything seemed ok. The federal assistance programs agent, a Mr. William Carl Smith contacted me & said the head of the IRS just issued a emergency order & said that I would need to pay an additional $3,000. I DON'T have $3,000. I emailed him back telling him just that. Mr. Smith said in order to get my $40,000 govt grant money, I need to pay $3,000. He wanted me to go to 2 different money gram locations & get money grams of $1,500 each made out to Betty Speight. I knew at this point I had been scammed. I refused! Mr. Smith sent me all kinds of links by gmail & text to all the Federal Assistance Programs. How they help Americans. I told him since I don't have $3,000, I will have to refuse the grant. He said pay $2,000 instead to help me out. I don't have it. He tried begging & I refused to answer anymore. I said deliver the money & I will give him the $2,000 just to test him out. He refused as expected. He sent more links to govt federal sights online. So I'm out $1,000. I have no savings now. Many people may call me stupid but I thought this was a real website, a real deal. I found out today that my facebook friends messenger was hacked & that's how I found out about this website. At least I woke up before they got anymore money. I'm so angry at myself! I worry about all the hurricane victims that will now be applying for federal aid. If they click on the wrong website like I did, they could be in trouble. Don't let this be you. The agents phone number was out of Novato, CA (415) 878-5194. Hope this helps somebody out there!
