One of our lawyers received a phone call this afternoon from Jeff Linstrom, General Counsel at Eclipse Business Capital , stating that he believed his company had received a fraudulent opinion letter on our law firm (Locke Lord LLP) letterhead from a potential borrower. The fraudulent opinion letter was allegedly written by a lawyer, Samuel E. Jones, who is NOT a lawyer at our Firm. Locke Lord is concerned that our letter/letterhead is being used by these scammers on other deals, without our knowledge or authority.
