Fun Time Vacation Reports & Reviews (1)

I received a call on my cell phone from a Las Vegas number that I did not recognize. The caller left a voicemail that said I had won a free cruise. I figured that since I have a Las Vegas phone number, but live in FL, that I would be required to attend a presentation for a timeshare or vacation club in Las Vegas, so I avoided all calls. I received a postcard, in the mail, stating that they were unable to contact me by phone. I had won a 7 night Royal Caribbean cruise including air. I called the number listed and was told that if I attended a 90 minute presentation that I would receive the cruise. In addition, since I responded within 24 hrs. I would also receive a 4day/3 night hotel stay with air. There was no obligation to buy. As long as I attended the full presentation, I would walk out with the gifts. My wife and I attended the presentation for a vacation club. They explained how much it would cost. Since I already own a vacation club, I declined. They reduced the price since I already own, but again I declined. I was given the promised vouchers for the air/hotel stay and the cruise including air. The cruise voucher said the value was $699 per person. I was required to send a money order for $69 per person to an address in Las Vegas. Once they received the money orders, they would email further instructions. I received an email with pre booking instructions and a form to be filled out and returned to Avolon. The form stated that 90 days advanced notice was required. The voucher was for non peak season travel including 7 days before or after any major holiday. The form said I would receive another email with further instructions, once Avolon received the form. I emailed the form to Avolon and received another email from them with a Fun Time Vacation Reservation form. The terms and conditions stated that I would only receive one quote. I would have 24 hours to respond to the quote. I was to send an additional $25 per person to Fun Time. I called Avolon customer service to verify that the voucher was for 7 nights, on Royal Caribbean only, when non peak travel was for the Caribbean and what the major holidays were (Thanksgiving was one). I was informed by the gentlemen that I could not travel 7 days before or 7 days after a major holiday. The form was to be sent to Fun Time Vacations in Maryland. I chose the Nov 13 (Thanksgiving is Nov 24) cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I filled out the form and emailed it to Fun Time. I received a quote, from the Fun Times booking agent, of $837 per person for the cruise and all government taxes. It stated that the following factors influenced the price of my vacation package: Your chosen cruise dates are within a week of a major holiday. I emailed the booking agent immediately and asked if that was the price that I had to pay or did my travel voucher still have to be deducted, because the cruise I chose was 11 days before Thanksgiving. I received a response stating that the $837 per person was what I had to pay because the cruise returns the week of Thanksgiving, a major holiday. There was a number to call for questions, customer service needs as well as help pertaining to contacting the correct company to address my dissatisfaction. I called the number (1-800-861-1313). Although the number was different from the Avolon Customer Service (1-800-661-2107), it was the same gentleman that I had spoken to previously when I called Avolon - he has a very distinct voice. I told him that I wanted a number to contact in order to complain. He said that I am only entitled to one quote. I said that I realized that, but the Nov 13 is 11 days before Thanksgiving. He stated that the cruise returns on the 20th which is 4 days before the holiday. He said that was covered in the paperwork. It does not state that the cruise has to return 7 days before a holiday. In fact, the form states that the voucher is for non peak season travel INCLUDING 7 days before or after a major holiday (I cruise a lot and know that holidays are peak travel times, but the wording on the forms does not imply that). Then he tried to tell me that my quote was sent the day before so the 24 hours had expired. I told him that I received it that morning. He said, "You may have received it this morning, but it was sent yesterday." I don't believe that they were planning on giving me the cruise regardless! I could have booked the cruise myself, without the travel voucher, for less than their quote. All along I felt as though they were making me jump through hoops to claim my 'free cruise', but I did everything that was required in a timely manner, yet I didn't get it. Although, $188 ($139 to Avolon, $50 to Fun Timeis not all the money in the world it could have been a lot more.

I was unable to attach all the forms and emails mentioned above, but I can email them if necessary. I am filing scam reports on both companies and also contacting the company that held the vacation club presentation.
