Type of a scam Retail Business
I purchased a few products, was told they'd sign me onto their free rewards program for discounts, and that I would receive a free magazine of my choosing. I clarified with the employee and they said everything was absolutely free. Towards the end of the transaction, I did not receive my free magazine, I asked about it and the employee was rude and said I would receive it via mail. I've come to realize since then I've been getting charged $11.99/month for an "FYE back pass" as well as $23/month for a National Geographic magazine. I have been receiving a small paperback magazine in my mail, for which I did not understand why I kept getting a magazine every month as I was not explained it was a subscription.
It is not a huge charge, but it is recurring to hundreds, could be thousands of other people. Check out their Google reviews, as well as Reddit reviews about the FYE subscription.
It is absolutely unfair. Although I believe I did provide my signature, I was not given any other information in writing or paperwork or electronic in regards to this being a paid subscription, or any subscription whatsoever, and was lied to about it being an absolutely free rewards program. Until recent I was unaware I was receiving a "backyard pass" and did not know anything about it or its "benefits" aside from what I now know.
Also, the magazine quality is not worth $23, it is very thin.
I would like to add that my intention with this report is that the FYE employees get better training to avoid performing purposeful or accidental fraudulent subscriptions.
