I was contacted by phone from a private number by Melissa Harvey from Haven and Chase Financial stating she is calling because I've been declined loans online. I had been applying for personal loans online and was desperate because of multiple business related debts for subcontracting jobs. Melissa offered a $5000 loan which I was surprised because it was exactly what I needed. She mentioned that because of my poor credit I had a few options: 1 Get a cosigner, 2. Pay collateral payment of $626 which is equal to the 1st 4 monthly payments . She mentioned that the best option would be to pay the collateral payment of $626. I mentioned that I would need to wait till my payday to pay which was about 2 weeks away. She was agreeable to the 2 weeks so I just waited to pay. In the meantime, I executed the required contract and documents by email and was told I would be given instructions on payment when I'm ready. On August 28th I had the funds to pay and I was told to make a Western Union money transfer to Ontario, CA to a Margret Allen. I was a little suspicious but because I was desperate for the money I went ahead with the transaction. After the transaction I was told the funds would be sent to my bank in a few hours. I waited and ated but no funds made it to my account. The next day, I was told that because my credit score dropped since the initial approval, I would need to send an additional $626for additional collateral. But gullible me, went ahead and sent the payment and was told funds would transfer in a few hours. I checked and still no money in my bank. The next day, I received a call from Melissa stating that Canada requires a border tax payment of $500 to proceed with the loan. I continued to send the funds and was assured that I would receive the money back as a grant and would only be responsible for paying back the $5000. A few days of waiting and back and forth communication, I was told that I need to pay $550 US border tax to proceed with the loan. I complained that I was running out of funds for paying all these fees. I was reassured that I would be given the money paid back as a grant. So I continued to send money to Canada. After complaining that I still haven't received any funds after 2 weeks of waiting,Melissa rechecked my bank routing number and told me she was given wrong numbers. She admitted it was her fault. To my dismay, I was told that I needed to send another payment of $550 to pay for 1st year taxes and I went ahead and sent the money. Apparently everytime I sent money the receiver's name would change.. My wife started to ewarm me of the numerous red flags which I ignored because I was so desperate. After days of waiting and still no money in my bank, I was told that the Canadian lenders have been angered due to Haven and Chase threatening litigation. So Melissa told me I would need to pay $600 to transfer my loan from the Canadian lender to Haven and Chase as the servicer. This time we've spend almost $3000 and was again assured that we would receive everything paid as a grant and only responsible for $5000. So almost $8000 would be funded to us. It all sounded really good so again I was suckered to proceed with the Western Union Money transfer. At this point my bank account is in the red (negative). Now s, still no money in my account and no updates from Melissa. We try calling her for the next 3 days and still no reply back. We have already missed a mortgage payment and water bill. This was unfortunate because we were in a trial period for a loan modification. Because we missed a payment , our loan modification has been cancelled. Now our water is going to be disconnected due to nonpayment of our bill. At this time I tried looking up the company and was surprised that the website is not working. We cannot contact anyone with the company except for Melissa Harvey our loan officer. After making our last payment and leaving 100 voice mail messages we have not heard back from her. We haven't had any luck contacting anyone with the company other than Melissa Harvey. It was too late to find out that Haven and Chase does not even exist in Michigan at the stated address. When trying to track down one of Melissa’s phone calls to me, she actually called from an Ontario Canada phone number. We’re afraid that we are at a loss of $3000 because we can't even contact anyone to receive a refund of the money paid. Melissa is just ignoring my calls at this point.
