- Miami, FL, USA

I applied to a Video editor job for the brand HolStrength on LinkedIn. My first contact was on Feb. 28 through the Email: [email protected] where they told me that they had seen my application on Linkedin and that they were interested in me and asked if I still was to which I replied yes. Then they sent me a PDF questionnaire on March 3rd which I filled out and sent back that same day after researching that it was a legit company. On March 3rd, they sent me an email that I had been chosen for the position because of my skills and that I had to send an email with the following information to the human resources area: Full Name, Home Address, Phone Number, Email. and the HR email was [email protected]. I sent the info that same day.On March 6th, they sent me an offer letter and asked me for my ID. I sent my work permit cus it's the only ID I have at the moment and they told me that they were going to provide me home office equipment that they were going to ship it to me. They sent me an email that they had received all my information and that Landen was going to contact me via text. He texted me from (213) 6634156 with a welcome message and told me he was gonna send a check for me to order the equipment, then he asked for my account #. They sent me the check via email and told me to print and deposit it to buy the equipment myself so it would be under my name since after 12-16 weeks of working there, I could keep it. He kept texting me all day asking if the funds were available because needed to start training soon. I told him that the funds reflected as pending until March 15 so he asked if I had any $ I could send the vendor to expedite the process. I told him I only had $1,500 and he replied that the vendor needed at least half. I told him I only had that much and after some time of supposedly checking with the vendor, he said it was ok and to transfer it to the Cashapp account: lpzzz144 with the memo Jorge Equipment. I had an issue with cashapp so he sent me a zelle account: [email protected] - Emilee wren. I did not have the money available so I asked my sister in law if she would help us, so she was the one to transfer the $1,500 via zelle. Then he said he confirmed with the vendor that she got the money so my equipment would be shipped out in 3-5 business days and that he would send me the tracking # when he had it. Then, later I messaged him to ask an ETA of the # and my message was not delivered so I started suspecting something was wrong. I tried to facetime him multiple times to see if his face was the real Landen that actually works at Holstrength but he never answered. On March 8, the checked was rejected.
