Lewis County Sheriff's Dept impostor Reports & Reviews (1)

A man impersonating a local law enforcement officer called and said I had failed to report for jury duty and there were two warrants out on me. He named the local judge and sheriff and gave citation numbers. He said in order to not be arrested, I needed to purchase MoneyPak cards, give him with the numbers and he would give me a pin number to enter at a kiosk in the courthouse. I would then be given a refund check. He said the fine was $2500. I purchased four $500 cards. I gave him the numbers on three of them and he gave me pin numbers. I realized something was not right, hung up the phone and was able to recover $1000 by transferring two cards to my bank account. The scammer had already gotten the cash for two of them for a total of $1000. I reported it to the local sheriff's office, and they said another person had reported the same scam. The person had gotten my number from Zillow since I am a realtor listed on their website. I discovered that he had called me through the lead system there. I notified Zillow of this.
