I was offered a job by Linda Miller at Medallion Landscape. I then received an email stating to send my offer letter to the HR email which was [email protected]. They stated Maya Sixtus was head of hiring and she would schedule my orientation and get my materials needed for the orientation. In the email that Linda Miller sent she asked for my address, phone number, and bank I used so they could send me a check to buy the computer and software programs. On Friday 2/23/24 I deposited the check from

Medallion Landscaping in the amount of $4883. Maya Sixtus texted me and said if I had any issues I could email their tech person, Tonya Philips for help. Since this computer was so specific I emailed Tonya Philips at [email protected]. She said the had the laptop in her inventory and said she could load any software needed. She said the cost for computer, installation and software would be $4500. She said I could make a $2000 deposit and she would pick up the laptop and start the process. I texted this Maya Sixtus to make sure this was acceptable and she said to proceed but to make sure it would be at my house by Monday. I sent $2000 through Zelle to Aldaree Gordon at 469-835-1435. On Saturday 2/24/24 Tonya Philips said the computer was done and to send the rest of the money. I tried to Zelle the additional $2500 and my bank said the Zelle transfer was on hold. On Monday 2/26/24 I called the bank and they said the check from Medallion Landscaping was being returned because it was fraudulent. I am now out of $2000. I called Medallion Landscaping and asked for Linda Miller and whoever answered the phone said “oh yeah they are aware of the scam”. I then asked if they knew who Maya Sixtus is and she said no. This doesn’t make sense to me because she is listed as the HR/payroll person at this company.

I thought I was in the process of getting hired for a remote position with the company, Medallion Landscaping. At first, it seemed very real and I was excited to be getting a new job and having the opportunity to work from home. After many back and forth emails, I was sent a check of $4,833 to purchase materials such as a laptop and specific software for the job. The type of MacBook with the specific additions and software was very hard to find in stores so they directed me to a personal resource that could order the laptop for me and install the software themselves. I sent an Apple Pay payment of $4500 to a phone number connected with them ( 713-204-0519). Looking back on this situation now I can see the signs of this not being legit and feel quite embarrassed about it. I hope this story helps in some way.
