I have received this same script more than once and this man, "Wesley *******", could not believe that I was questioning the authenticity of his call and that I refused to confirm the last four of my ssn. I told him I do not give out that information and he said that I wasn't giving him the info, that HE was giving me the info. I explained that confirming anything to him IS giving him information. He basically laughed. But if I didn't confirm, then he couldn't tell me what my "case" is about. These places call and, in my case, leave a message sometimes, because I won't answer if it's unavailable or a number I don't know. Anyway, I thought I'd play along today so I called - the message said to call this number and ask for the Legal Dept! (ugh) So Wesley gets on the phone and immediately wants to know if I've been served yet - no. Then he says they sent me a letter 38 days ago and haven't heard from me, so I should expect to be served soon. Like I said, I refused to confirm anything and told him to send the letter again. He said he "can't" send it because the 30 days are up. I told him that's not true and he got completely irate and started almost yelling, saying -- you are breaking the law by pretending to be xxx (me), and don't ever call this number again! Then he hung up. I only have the (supposed) name and number I called for reference.
