Almost was like a cell phone number. Both "representatives" would not talk unless I verified my social. Initially, they called my husband. Would not give an address or supervisor name or any contact information. Stated that they were collecting a debt from a supposed loan from 2012. I stated that I had never taken out a loan and they stated that if I did not pay, I would be forced to go to court and would be faced with thousands more dollars in "litigation fees". They were extremely rude and I ended up hanging up on them. They did have my full social though.

- Houston, TX, USA

Had my name and last four digits of my social, told me to put a debit card on file so that they can take money out due to a past loan from 2014. Saying that I needed to pay up or I would be facing a judge. After asking where they were located they hung up, called back and they refused to answer my question about where they were located. Also hung up on me after telling me I’m wasting their time.

I was called on Friday June 21st .Told I owed 540$ from a loan 12yrs ago was never told who I owed the money to they wanted 100$ a month for 5 months

The call came from a local number which I thought was a client call. This company "Northwest Solutions" said that I had taken out a payday loan from Advanced America for $*** - in Oct. 2013 (which I've never done) and it has incurred $*** in fees and is going to be reported the 3 credit bureaus today if I don't make a payment or installment plan today. They are mediators and wanted to "help" me. They'd take away the fees if I agreed to pay the original amount due. They had a logical answer for every one of my skeptical questions and also when I told them I'll just dispute the claim on my credit report - they said if it goes to magistrate, I would incur legal fees more than the amount due. I did what I could to verify who they were while on the phone that they were a legitimate company. The name DID come up in the BBB directory under the address I was given, so I started having a reason to believe them - though I was still sure I had never taken out this loan. They had the last 4 digits of my SSN (I didn't not give that info up). Reluctantly, I agreed to do an "installment" plan - in case it was legit. I "paid" the minimum $125 to buy time to find out if it was real - put it on a separate debit card that I knew my bank would stop payment and cancel the card as soon as I called to report the scam. I ended up digging and finding out about a scam that sounded exactly like what they told me - and also that the address was in fact a UPS store - not their company. I tried calling back the number they gave me and they immediately answered the call by saying my name - which freaked me out. I'm usually not naive but without the time to find out if it was real and catching me off guard: I just thought I was a victim of identity theft on the payday loan – not the collection of it! BEWARE!

I received a call from a company called Northwest Solutions that firstly reads out the last four of your social. Normally, your reaction is to answer correctly but don't answer. They were claiming that I failed to pay a payday loan of $250 and over time that account has now increased to $893 and if I'm ready to pay that amount.

- Grand Haven, MI, USA

Called more than once by someone from a company claiming to be "Northwest Solutions". I was never prompted with a disclaimer that the call would be monitored or recorded. He asked me to confirm my name, and the last 4 of my social. Upon request for proof of debt, I was provided a document (via email) with no header or company info (attached below) except for the address. The address in the header, is in fact, for a UPS store in Studio City, CA (I live in Michigan, and the phone number he called me from is local to where I live). I verified with the manager at UPS that a UPS store does in fact exist at that location, so the address is likely just for a PO box. I repeatedly asked the caller to explain why he'd have an address on a formal document for his organization that was false and occupied by another business. He refused to answer, explained he wasn't calling about addresses or websites (I insisted he explain why I couldn't find any information about his company online, he could not), and continued to try to get me to pay the balance. His eagerness could only be described as that of someone who had something to gain if I paid the debt. I would not move past the address issue, and he eventually hung up.

- Reidsville, NC, USA

Called and said I had payday loan from 2011 and this was my last attempt to pay before going to court. They had the last 4 of my social and when I said I was going to research their company they abruptly hung up but called back a week later.
