Earlier this week (July 25th), without a contract or an estimate, Marlon Dionisio (Dionicio)'s team started applying mulch to my mother's yard to what she said they told her would just be a small "test patch". My mother went inside her home, and when she went outside to see the "test patch", she saw that they had actually applied the mulch to more than half of her front yard (roughly 100-150 square feet). She told them to stop, and Marlon Dionisio's team charged her $2500. My mother had not agreed to this price nor signed a contract, but paid them because she was scared. Her check was cashed the same day. As others noted on the scam pulse website, this is the same scam pattern that others have experienced, and Marlon Dionisio (Dionicio) Landscaping team put on a show of force that can be intimidating, and it was particularly so for my small octogenarian mother. My mother was also afraid because they know where she lives.
I called Marlon today (July 28th) after my mother shared what happened. His phone number is 323-470-9495. When I spoke with Marlon, I asked him to share with me an estimate for the work they did at my mother's home or a contract signed by my mother noting that my mother agreed to this work. I shared my concern with him that the money they took from my mother was excessive and this was elder (fraud) abuse. He did not provide straightforward answers to my questions, then proceeded to say he couldn't hear me and hung up.
Marlon Dionisio (Dionicio) Landscaping appears not to be licensed, so we cannot report them to a licensing agency. The phone number for the business is 323-470-9499.
Please, PLEASE help bring attention to these scammers and stop them before they prey on more people!!
