I've been receiving emails addressing me as a "Paypal Customer" or the sender is obviously pretending to work for Paypal, Geek Squad, and McAfee. All the emails are fraudulent receipts, usually around $100-$1000, for a service that I never signed up for or for a product (ie. subscription, iphone) that I never bought. There is always an attached file to the email as well as a phone number to call. Usually the email says "if this transaction was not made by you please call this number". I did not attempt to call the number, however I may have accidentally downloaded the attached file and clicked on a link that was within the email. The sender email address and name are always different for each email that I received. On August 23, 2023 I noticed an unauthorized transaction on my checking account for $534.59. According to my bank, this was a credit card payment. I do not own any credit cards nor have I attempted to open any credit cards at this time. I reported this unauthorized transaction with my bank on August 25, 2023 and it is currently being investigated on behalf of my bank.
