Oncor Imposter Reports & Reviews (9)

Someone called the company I work for and said they were a service tech and were shutting off our power within 30 minutes. They provided a reference number and telephone number and when we called attempted to collect 1900. The 800 sounds incredibly real and even has an automated prompt. It wasn’t until my regional manager was about to pay the balance and they asked we pay with Venmo or Zelle that we realized it is a scam.

I should have known better before giving them my actual address when they had mine incorrect. Now they have my address.

I hope this will prevent others from panicking. "OnCor" called using a digitized voice informing me that my service is being disconnected in 30 minutes. Press 1 to make payment. The person responded and when I provided my phone number they gave me an incorrect address. It was an old address though so it was at least familiar. I gave them my address and they sent me over to another operator who informed me I had to pay in person at a Tom Thumb Kiosk with of course - cash, because the credit info would take too long. They had continued asking me if I was sure I had not received a disconnect notice. At this point, I finally regained my composure, hung up and called my provider directly, only to find out that all was well.

We wanted to reach out and inform your offices of a scam call we just received. They called claiming to be from Oncore and claiming our bill was past due, in the amount of 498.25, and about to be disconnected in thirty minutes. We know it’s a scam as our office rent includes all utilities. They did however know many details about our company including name, address and office number. On the initial call, it had an option to press one to speak to a representative but also had a call back number of 1-800-481-6582. We spoke to a representative named Joshua and when asked for his direct line he provided the same number. Let me know if there’s anything you need us to do concerning this matter and thank you for your time.

An automated call was received at my place of employment stating that "the business electric will be shut off in 30 minutes due to delinquent account" and to press "1" to speak with a rep. I spoke with a man, his accent was very heavy I could not understand his name. He advised that the business electric bill account was 2 months past due in the amount of $1312.02. I opened up the online portal of the electric company that we use and this information did not match. At this point I knew this was a fraud call, but I continued to get more info out of him. I asked him if he shows the last payment that was made in April, he stated he could not. He said that I need to take the past due amount in CASH to United Supermarket at 2522 Old Iowa Park Road, and go inside to the "green colored kiosk" machine, and to call him at 800-311-5985 ext 2001 and he will give me directions on how to deposit the money as there is an "authorization process" and he would need to talk me through it. I asked him for our account number and he told me that he can only provide that to me after the transaction is made because his computer system is already set up waiting to receive the money. Needless to say I did not fall for this and I hope this helps to prevent EVERYONE from this type of fraudulent activity.

They were trying to tell me I owed on my electric bill and were going to cut me off. First they said they were with Oncor and I told them that I didn't have service with them. They then tried to figure out who I was with. When I called back the number is disconnected.

Company called, stated that Oncor was giving a 15% discount. Can you get your bill out so we can check your number. I told them I didn't have it on me and then he stated some unintelligible words and hung up.

I recieved a call from ph 8883134747 stating they are from ONCOR and my electricity was about to be suspended for non-payment, knowing myself i am current on my bills. So the lady said that i needed to go to a 711 and send her a money order for 305$ but my electricity would be suspended for 72 hr while they investigate and call ph: 8009279992 to get where to send it. she said two payments were not showing in their system. I called my electric company and they said you are current no balance due and that they do not go thru oncor. It is a scam.
