Pack Easy Moving Company Reports & Reviews (4)

I am currently selling furniture on Craigs List. Someone with the name Brittany Fisk with a 651 area code did the same thing. Sent me a cashiers check for $1,300 more than the asking price. She claims she needs a moving company to come and pick up the item and take it to Oregon. Wish I would have saved the express envelope and taken a picture of the cashiers check. For some reason this transaction felt wrong from the beginning. I'm will to be the check is going to be no good.

Same thing just happened to me. Had you two not posted this, it could have gotten further than it did. I received a fake cashiers check for $1000 more than the cost of my piano and would have realized then I was being scammed. Thanks to you, I saw this when I asked for the name of the moving company. The scammers will become more deceitful so people must be careful when dealing with online transactions. There were red flags along the way I ignored and I can’t imagine how many people actually fall for this scam.

I was selling a piano on craigslist. I was contacted by a person named Heather Tanner. She wanted to purchase a piano for her nephew and have it shipped. The person agreed to my price for an extra amount for shipping. The cost of the piano was $600 and I was sent a cashier's check for $1950. When I tried to make arrangements for pick up I was sent an invoice for the shipping from PackEasy Moving Services for $1,350. When I tried to contact Heather Tanner via phone, I left a message. I wanted specifics of where to ship, name, address etc. However, I then received a text from the moving company requesting cash be sent via fedex for the $1350 so that they can come and pick up the piano. After checking with my bank to make sure the cashier's check was legitimate or not, I found out it was bogus. So, a total scam. Good thing I was suspicious from the beginning and did research on line for the company. Of course it does not exist! I am not out any money. Lesson learned, do not accept any checks, money orders, or cashier's checks through the mail when trying to sell something.

Exact same thing happened to me and I'm really grateful this report showed up on Google. I'll add a few items I found out also doing research.

Even though the return address on the Fedex that had the check was in Portland, the package was sent from Meza, AZ (always check the tracking number).

Check all security items on the check. In my case, I was lucky my bank manager came from the "issuing bank", Citibank, and knew the check was false. There is microprinting around border of notice (need magnifier, but should see words, not dots). Also, watermark on back was obviously done by printer, not embedded in paper.

My credit union offered to put hold on funds until check cleared, most large banks wont.

Read warnings on Craigslist. They say only deal with local people and don't accept any checks for more than the agreed amount.
