PenFed Credit Union Reports & Reviews (1)

I first noticed some small unauthorized charges on my credit card. I contacted my bank, had the card canceled, disputed the charges and was issued a new card. Several weeks afterwards, I received a letter from someone pretending to be my bank telling me my credit card (that is no longer active) was in arrears for $29.00. If my payment is not received within 10 days of the date of the letter, they were obligated to report my account information to the credit reporting agencies. Both the address and phone number DID NOT match my bank. I also received the letter at the end of the 10 days period.

After receiving the letter, I was immediately contacted by someone pretending to be from my bank. The phone number show it was coming from Pentagon Fcu using the same number found on the letter. The woman on the other end wanted me to verify whom I was by providing personal information about myself. When I told her, I could not verify who she was or her identity she told me to contact Pentagon Fcu using the same number she was calling on and on the letter.

I contacted the real Pentagon Fcu using the number that I have used for years. They had no record of any problems with my account, a letter or a phone call. The spokesman told me, the real Pentagon would never contact me directly and asked me to verify my information. They would send me either a text message or leave an electronic message asking me to contact the bank.
