On July 13th, my son had took his Chevy Sonic into Rotolo’s service department in regards to his coolant leaking. They advised after overnight inspection the cost would be approximately $1,600 to buy a new radiator along with service. We agreed as we thought that was the issue from what the specialist had informed us.

On July 14th we showed up at approximately 12pm due to the fact the specialist had told us he’d call our third-party insurance to handle the payments around 10am. When arriving we had issues receiving our car as they tried to have my son pay for the services and were withholding the keys until then. We tried to find the specialist that “helped” us out, and he informed us he lost our insurances information that we provided the day before. After a solution was made, we took the car home where my son noticed the same leak after parking in our driveway. At that point we wondered what was actually fixed and why there would still be an issue after paying for their services.

We contacted Rotolo to let them know we are taking the car back, and at no point they made any attempt to apologize for any inconveniences or to inform us of the actual issue happening to the car. At approximately 5:30pm they told us the car was fixed and that the issue was the water pump, which was under warranty as stated on the receipt.

I had then made numerous attempts through phone calls and emails to find out what happened and why were were charged for an issue that most-likely never needed to be addressed. Now I am left wondering was my son scammed in order for them to use our insurance to pay for those unneeded parts and labor. The issue could have been avoided if I had received any sort of communication stating why we were charged for certain services, instead my son was brushed off by the specialist when he had asked what the real issue ended up being and how it could be avoided in the future. I also found it odd when they took the original receipt for the radiator from my son and didn’t allow us to have a copy. Currently upon writing this I have yet to receive a phone call or email, I just hope to find some sort of resolution and piece of mind for the way it felt that they were taking advantage of my son.
