Via Indeed job search engine, I applied for a Remote Administrative Assistant position with a company called "AirSwift". I received an email from a "[email protected]" stating I was accepted. "Diane Smith" proceeded to email me a job description along with pay rate of "$500 weekly or $24,000 yearly". After sending an "acceptance letter" via email, "Diane Smith" stated via email she would be sending me a check of "$2,950.89" in order to purchase equipment (Phone, Printer, Paper and Ink) through their contractor. I received a check for aforementioned amount from "JP Morgan and Chase" bank. I digitally deposited this check into my checking with USAA Federal Savings Bank. Once deposited "Diane Smith" requested I send increments of $900 via Zelle within USAA to their contractor who would send me said equipment. This contractor was named as "Ganiu Sodiq" at "[email protected]". I sent this account a total of $1000. I was then asked by "Diane Smith" to send an additional $1500 to the same account but this time with Walmart / iTunes gift cards. I proceeded to purchase 4 Walmart gift cards totaling $1500, I sent "Diane Smith" images of the card numbers and pins of these cards. At this time, I had $500 left from aforementioned check which was supposedly my weeks pay for the position. At this time "Diane Smith" halted all communication with me via email and text. I confronted "Diane Smith" asking questions about the company and to confirm their identity. I got no response. On 7/18/2020 I spoke with my bank, USAA, due to seeing that my checking account had been drained. USAA confirmed that this check was altered / fraudulent which is why the monies were taken back. I have attempted to report the job listing on Indeed as fraudulent but all traces of this posting are deleted. I have reported this incident to the BBB. USAA has filed a claim with their fraud team.

I applied for a remote administrative position through Indeed. The “hiring manager” asked for an acceptance email, they then sent a list of responsibilities and equipment needed for the job. They proceeds to only respond via text messaging. I asked repeatedly for them to send me a job description and along with pay rate. They never honored this. No interview was conducted either. “Diane” stated the company would be sending me a stipend in order to purchase said equipment. The check was received and I was asked to send $1500 to their “contractor” for equipment. The check I received was for amount of $2950. I was then asked to put monies on Walmart gift cards and iTunes gift cards, then send the card numbers and pins via text. When I asked for instructions as what to do next I was ignored. I was supposed to start work on July 13th. No official letterhead, identity check, or direct deposit information was provided or spoken about. Once I was told multiple times to wait further instructions, this person has stopped responding to my messages.
