Student Loans of America Reports & Reviews (7)

This is a student loan repayment/forgiveness scam. I recently finished graduate school and have federal student loans which I am starting to repay. During my undergraduate years, my parents opened a FAFSA account for me but never actually took out loans. All loans I do have are in my name. However, my 64-year-old mother recently got a phone call at her home regarding MY student loan repayment options. The caller gave a name and reference number. She thought this was fishy and told me. I called my loan servicer and they confirmed that, no, they would never reach out that way. So I called the number my mom had been given. They claimed to be Student Loans of America and wanted to "connect me to loan repayment and forgiveness options." They did admit they were a private company and not associated with the government or my school. The question is: how did they get my parents phone number????? They did not have my number or any of my information.

This organization calls me multiple times a day from either blocked, or shortened numbers like this one: (266) 696-687. Each voicemail has the same voice, but has given me names of Lori Davis and Danielle Parker, and a 3 completely different reference numbers that apparently link my one account. They also vary in reason, from “your credit card debt” to “your student loan debt,” but I haven’t used a credit card in ten years.

“Virginia Kelly” Left a message with a reference number. Wanted to talk about my Federal Student Loan , and she needed to discuss repayment options. I do not have a loan. I called back and when they realized I wasn’t going to fall for the scam they hung up.

They called me three times in a 30 minute time span from 3 different numbers. Leaving some bogus voicemail on how I have a student loan I need to pay. I NEVER EVEN WENT TO COLLEGE HOW DO I HAVE A LOAN. then they wont even give you their website or corporate number they give some bogus number of 619 612 9815

its disconnected as well.

I have been called almost daily by these type of scammers. But this women who refers to herself as Sara R*** or Auvy T*** calls me often and states that she wants to discuss my student loan debt and my repayment options. She says that there have been changes that have taken effect that could affect my loan. Please call her back to discuss this at this number 1-866-230-0121 or 1-888-356-2550. She has called from various numbers - 270-693-6355, 276-212-0792, 505-387-36-48 and 402-512-8690. She gives a Reference number to give when I call. It has been 60603 or 80804. I have recordings on my voice mail of her saying all of this and it is very easy to tell that it is same person calling from all of these numbers. I have no personal student loans but I am the cosigner on 1 or 2. I have not given up any personal information or lost any money but this is very frustrating. I would never remain on the phone long enough to give any info.

A male caller from a different entity called and scammed my mom and we had to change all of her bank information. She just has $185.00 taken from her bank account before we could complete all of the changes and close the old account. Stop preying on older people!!!

Got a "check" in the mail offering consolidation for my student loans, at a fee of course. The service they offer is actually already free to me through my lender. These people are trying to make money off the American student's back. Unacceptable!

They send a letter making it seem like its an important letter helping with your student loans when its all a lie. The letter states that your loans are approved for a reduction in payment. It will have the amount of your current loans and how it was approved for more than half of a reduction in price. This is a scam, do not call the number!!! They ask a lot of personal information that they should have on file already if its really the department of education. Beware and don't fall for it!! The company is called Student loans of America!!!
