Terry Parker, or likely someone working for him, sent a very nice letter asking to buy a small parcel down in California. Only problem? The letter was addressed to my dead father. So I did a little digging, and Terry sends dozens if not hundreds of these letters to people who have undeveloped land and focuses especially on people who have recently inherited land. It's a shady grift, trying to take advantage of kids or young folks who don't know any better and will just take the first offer that comes along. My father died quite some time before this letter was sent, so that gives you an idea of how little effort they actually put into these offers. Did you literally not have time to google the man who you were offering half a million bucks to, just to find out if he's even alive? It's frankly insulting, and what's more, his offer was clearly the exact same dollar amount that the State of California appraised it for when I inherited it, not even an attempt to hide what he's doing. He's just taking court paperwork and firing off copy paste letters to people who are grieving. The mere fact that he's offering hundreds of thousands of dollars to dozens of different people that he's never even met, and yet doesn't even have a google listing of any kind, nor a business, nor any credentials, let's you know how shady this guy/group really is. Also, still very much not over the fact that he doesn't even check if people are alive before firing these off. What a rancid jerk.

Just received an offer to purchase my land in Iowa at a very low offer. Phone # to call is 623-755-9805 Ext 8336 to discuss upon return of the signed document. Figured it was a scam and decided to file a complaint here. Hope you can do something so elderly don't fall for this.

I was sent a letter dated 03/31/22 to purchase 35 acres for less than $27,000. My mailing address was not correct, the property address was not correct, and the letter was poorly written. I called the number and was extremely disappointed with Terry Parker or the representative. It was obvious a scam. PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE in this process. I plan to contact BBB.

Recieved a professional-looking solicitation to purchase a property I own in Iowa. Offer price was less than 5% of actual property value. This is an attempt to take advantage of the cognitively challenged. Please prosecute.

Received a professional looking letter in the mail expressing desire to purchase land that we own. Letter was written better than the usual on these type mailings but one little punctuation error threw a flag. Called number and got a very well spoken lady who seemed to know real estate. She did not have an accent from another country. A reasonable deal was offered. The deal was far from being too good to be true. Felt legit. Actually it was a low offer but the land isn’t highly desired property. Address to the scammers’ business was a fake. Was told by a legit source that once postal mail hit close to the fake address, there may have been a forwarding address in place for postal carrier. Note: no fault to post office and the forwarding mailing deal hasn’t been proven. The website looks like the real deal. We almost were to the point of a legal closing via internet. Not sure what the most desired outcome was for these people but it looks like they would have wired a bad check our way in exchange of our deed. Then, the expense to get our deed back would have been on us. Who knows?! We now assume that they were also after more personal info. ScamPulse.com rep was wonderful in helping sort this little nightmare. ScamPulse.com rep guided me step by step on WHOIS website to learn who the admin is for the scammers’ website and the scammer’s email. Thanks to WHOIS, we found out that the admin/website/email is out of the country. Panama was the origin. Thankful that we called BBB. The ScamPulse.com lady was enlightening and helpful in learning to trace these sites without cost. Trust your gut even if it is a question mark.
