Texas A M University Reports & Reviews (1)

Received an email with correct address for Texas A & M University. The Logo's were correct and even the name of the contact person matched an actual buyer for Texas A & M. The phone numbers did not match but all communication was done by email. The email address was almost a match for an actual buyer for A & M. The legit address ends in @tamu.edu and the scam address ended in @tamus-edu.org. They had us quote price and availability on four items that are legit products that we sell.

After bidding we were awarded the order for one of the 4 products and we were given a purchase order number. They filled out a credit App and even furnished credit references. We figured something was wrong when they were pressing very hard for a shipping date. We called the purchasing department at A&M and they told us it was a scam and that it had happened before. The Scammers get you to ship the items to A&M and then they call the shipping company to change the shipping address. We would be obligated to pay for the product from our supplier and A&M would not be obligated to pay us since it was not an order from them. Scammer gets $30,000 worth of product shipped to their destination and we are out the money. Always call to verify orders or you can get burned. We were actually ready to have the product shipped when we caught the scam.
