The day the installer arrived, he asked me what the job was. In other words, he had NOT discussed the project with the head of operations nor the estimator. On the morning of the 2nd day of an "estimated" 1-day project, the installer asked me for additional work authorization (i.e. I now pay more $) to complete the job. I was incensed: they had me over a barrel with a hole in my roof. I called the estimator, who was far more disingenuous & deflective than when he was trying to make the sale. When I got off the phone, the installer said to me 'this happens way too often - the customer gets stuck with an over-run, and we have confrontations like this'. My conclusions are a combination of the following factors: this company (1) knows this is a shake-down practice, and prays on unknowing customers; (2) is inept/incompetent at estimating simple roofing jobs; (3) has no internal coordination/communication between estimators & installers to ensure the estimate provided to the customer is realistic. This business is not good for the public interest.
