Type of a scam Employment
Once I proceeded to download the app, I spoke with a person named Tiana Salinas who called herself a “manager” she starts the interview instantly and I’m hired on the spot after I answer all the questions. She tells me to report to her Aug 14th Monday morning to accept the welcome letter along with w-4 form and send a picture of my social security and photo ID and fax it. I filled them out and sent a copy of my social security card and ID back to her as a fax. She then sends me a two part check in a email for equipment to purchase for the company since I will be working from home. She informed me to do a mobile deposit for that check.
I believed everything was legitimate and I attempted the mobile deposit , however I did not include “for mobile deposit only” only the back of the check and it was then reversed by the bank. When this happened I called my bank, and I spoke with the agent assisting me, she tells me I cannot do a mobile deposit and will need to visit a local branch to make the deposit, I informed her I couldn’t, because the check is a two-part check one side for signature and the front from where it was sent from—-she immediately transferred me over to the manager of the bank and the manager asked me to forward the email that the Tiana Salinas sent me where it shows the two part check. I forwarded the email to the bank manager and she worked closely with the fraud department of the bank and confirmed to me that it was a scam and that she will begin the process of changing my bank information.
