I received an email from my school email offering a personal assistant job. It said it was from the IT department from my school but it just seemed too good to be true. I gave my contact information. The person asked me to sign a contract for employment and I sent my resume. He then said that I am in a trial period for the first week and he was sending a check for $4000 for me to pay someone else and then my weekly payment of $650 up front. At this point I became very suspicious. I’ve heard of scams of people sending checks to cash then pay out of pocket for it but then the check bounces. At this point I have ceased all communication but I am still supposed to receive a package today. Not sure what to do with it.

At first I didn't realize this could have been a scam and was eager to start earning some easy money. Until I started to research online of this specific type of "job" and after reading other peoples similar situations I knew it was too good to be true...

I haven't responded to him since he told me via email that he's sending me a package with instructions on how to handle the "errands". DO NOT DEPOSIT THE CHECK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT. Apparently that's how the scammer get you. I'm supposed to be receiving a package soon but the only thing I will do is return it and block the guys number and email.

If you are a college student like me, please be aware of this type of scam.
