United Airlines Imposter - Travel Reservation Scam Reports & Reviews (2)

I noticed the day before my flight a minor mistake on the ticket. Checked with the airline's website, which specified this change could be made without penalty, so not wanting to risk this for international travel, I searched the name of the airline in google, and it came up as 855-547-0830. I was distracted packing and dealing with other problems (a major appliance in my house had just broke before I was leaving town!) and didnt think to check. I should have been tipped off when there was no long menu of automated options, but the person confirmed he worked for the airline, telling me it was a $200 charge. Asked for my phone, email, birthdate and travel itinerary/ticket number, and credit card information, made the change, and sent an email back asking me to state I agreed. All the while I was on hold waiting for an agent on the airline website to chat with, in case the phone call took too long. The agent stated multiple times there was no change fee, asking me for a receipt and who I spoke with. I thought se might be mistaken (airlines charge exhorbitant amounts these days!), but she then did not recognize the phone number or name ad urged me to call my cc company to report fraud.

3+ hours later, and I've canceled my card, changed my passwords, and put a fraud alert on my airline account - still scared the [censored] out of me! Please beware - I never would have expected this.

I used SIRI and said into my phone "UNITED AIRLINES CUSTOMER SERVICE", somehow the call was connected to Travel Geek Solutions located somewhere in FL.

The agent pretended to be a United Airlines agent and I wanted to cancel a flight. He said there was a charge of $125.00, made me agree to this with a return email from me, and I was convinced it was United Airlines.

The next day, I realized my mistake and called them, they said they would refund the money after I threatened to call the police and BBB. I am still waiting. (by the way, I used my zip code on pg where asked their zip, I was unsure)
