Do not use their moving service!! I worked closely with their sales rep, Frank, to get an accurate quote for our move--walked through the item list and gave him multiple pictures of our home. The day that we were to move, their movers arrived and, after walking through the home, quoted a rate that was over 50% higher! The original quote was for $6K, they quoted $9500.

What makes this a scam is two things:

1) Originally they wanted a deposit of 20% of the overall move cost--I read on several sites to not pay that much and settled with them for $100

2) When the movers arrived, they demanded that we unpack several items and pack into boxes--knowing that we didn't have as many available as needed for the items they tried to sell us boxes for up to $30/each.

We quickly told the movers to leave and found another service. BEWARE of these guys!

Warning. United Movers Group is not even a company and don't confuse them with the real United Movers that is an excellent moving company. United Movers Group is a fictitious company without a licence. They will subcontract with several small companies to legitimately steal your money and belongings, United Movers Group gave an estimate to move household. They required a deposit from a credit card, then the date of pick up they took a check for $9000, Then the day of delivery they requested additional $1000 money orders so that the estimate started out at $7,798 and ended up costing close to $14,000. We had to pay and sign off on false documentation or not get our belongings. The first subcontractor, Superior Movers, falsified documents stating they packed our entire house. They only were to pack the clothing on hangers and china, chrystal, delicate stuff. Frank promised the movers would hang my clothing in wardrobe boxes but instead they mashed them into boxes. The company did not have a moving truck, only a small truck so the move took them three trips. I only live in a two bedroom condo. Frank said that they would not subcontract but they subcontracted to Superior Movers in New Jersey and another company to drop off. The moving company was to dismantle then rebuild our items such as beds and chairs. They did not. United Movers Group promised they would pack delicate items and yet there was no packaging for expensive wood furniture, crystal given to me by my grandmother that was broken. There were broken lamps, artwork was broken. Our china cabinet had broken glass. They would not give us a delivery day and it ended up being several days. They left my husband's tools in our house in Connecticut. I had to hire somebody to disassemble the remaining anchor board for our office desk and murphy bed. I had to fly to CT and hire a car to go pick up my anchor and fed ex it to Chicago for the delivery. The delivery company did not reassemble items. I tried to get Frank on the phone and sent him several emails without response. Walter, his boss, I finally got a hold of. He said that they would try to get somebody to go to my vacated home to pick up the missing items which never happened. Today he told me the move is done and they would do nothing. United Movers Group has been shut down before but popped up somewhere else. I talked to the Walter and Frank about all the items broken and clothes mashed and Frank said he was shocked even though I emailed him several times. Walter said we signed off on the paperwork, which we had to get our items returned. When we started investigating the company, we were told that they will make additional checks from our checking account and cash them. Our bank had to become involved and shut down our checking and savings account and we had to cancel credit cards to prevent further exploitation. Anyway, If you have been conned by this company, don't let them bully you. You have rights. Interstate commerce fraud is a crime under the jurisdiction of FBI. They have a special unit that deals with moving scams. Also, you have the right to file a civil claim.
