United States Department of Government Grants Reports & Reviews (1)

A woman with a middle eastern accent called me on my cell phone today after I had not answered the number 3 times earlier today (8/18/2016) and I finally answered her call and she said her name was Victoria Moore and she was a representative representing the US Department of Government Grants. She said that I had been selected by the government through some type of survey that I had filled out (which I have NEVER filled out a survey for a government grant or any grants of any type whatsoever) and she said that I had been selected by the government to receive a grant for $9,000. I have seen this scam on Dr. Phil, World News Tonight on ABC, and different shows regarding this scam where you are told you will receive a $9,000 grant free from the government so I KNEW this was that scam as she described it. I asked her how MUCH was I going to HAVE to pay in FEES to received this $9,000 grant and she said that she didn't know the fees, she was just verifying my information and then she would forward that to the "Transfer Department" to find out how I would receive the "free" grant that I would NOT have to pay back at all, but that the "Transfer Department" would tell me the details on how much I would need to pay in fees and how I would receive the grant.

I kept asking questions because I wanted to get as much info from her as I could so I could report these THIEVES!! She said that she was just calling to VERIFY my personal info that she had and so I agreed to see what she was trying to verify on me and what info she had regarding MY personal info. She knew my first and last name and I verified that was correct. She knew my zip code and my city of residence. I verified that was correct. THEN she asked me how old was I and I told her I wasn't going to release that information AND at that point when I REFUSED to give her my age she hung up on me. When I've tried to call the number back that came in on my phone showing where the number was being called from it said it was from Washington the number would not let me connect. I would say that the number was not valid. I tried it several times and the same message came up.

I'm sure this was a SCAM and I wanted to make sure it was reported to you so that you would know about it. I live in Franklin, TN so they are calling people in this area with this scam. Please do whatever you have to do to stop this scam or at least get the word out so NO ONE including the elderly are not FOOLED by this SCAM!! Feel free to contact me in any way by phone, e-mail or I'll even go on the local news if I need to so that everyone can know they are calling cell phones and have personal information in the Middle TN area.

Thank you!!
