The Facebook scammer posted a keeshond litter announcement in a Facebook group, called 'Keeshond Puppies for Adoption and Rehoming' on March 4, 2023, at 9:39pm EST. We chatted over messenger over the details of her process for the sale of her keeshond puppies. She had a male keeshond puppy, Kila from her previous litter, that she was willing to sale for $850, with a $250 delivery fee. She wrote up a contract, it was signed, and agreed that a $650 deposit would be received to register the puppy for delivery with the company she chose, and the rest would be paid once the puppy was delivered. The company she decided to use to transport the puppy is called United Express Transport. Money for the deposit was sent through to her husband’s Zelle account (who had a different last name than her) but the bank immediately placed the transaction on hold, and she asked to have the transaction cancelled and to instead send money to her sons account (who also had a different last name than her). Because my account and her husband’s account were on hold, she offered to use her own money to register the puppy for delivery and said that I would reimburse her for the amount. Puppy was registered and a cash app of $300 was sent to reimburse the delivery fee. To get her the rest of the deposit a Visa gift card of $350 was given to her and that was sufficient to cover the deposit for the puppy. The puppy's delivery was moved to in-progress on March 6 and was supposed to arrive at the airport on the morning of March 7. However, the puppy was transported to Charlotte, NC and held due to insurance. Because the scammer failed to ever mention that the insurance for the puppy's delivery would be covered by the buyer. The company, United Express Transport, wanted an additional $1230.25 for 97% refundable insurance (more than the price of the puppy...??? and refundable). That's when we knew it was too good to be true. No more money was sent, and the conversation ended.

I purchased a puppy from Family Bred Keeshond Puppies. The breeder and I communicated via text, I could not get her to call me. We had a signed contract, puppy pictures, and the puppy was paid for using Zelle. The breeder then informed me that she prefers to transport the puppies as it is less stressful than a car ride. I paid for the puppy and shipping - $940. After a period of no communication - her father has a heart attack (so she claims) I get a text and a tracking number for United Express Transport. I input the tracking number and get a complete itinerary - my name, address, dogs name, breeders name, address, dimensions of the crate, dog weight, times, etc. After a few hours, I receive an email from the transport company that I need special insurance to ship the pup - $1200 which is refundable when the pup arrives which was paid with Zelle. The next morning I receive another email from the transport company that I now need a specialized crate to ship the pup. $1400 which is refundable when the pup arrives. This I did not pay as the red flags started to go off. The breeder's website states she ships in this type of crate. I reached out to her and got the run around - sorry this was my mistake, I forgot, I don't have the money to pay for the crate or I would, my dad is in the hospital, etc. The transport company tells me my pup is at the Bakersfield Airport (the breeder lives in Riverside) waiting for this crate to ship. I contacted the Riverside and Phoenix police who both told me I was the victim of a puppy scam. I even called the Bakersfield Airport police to see if there was a puppy there and there was not. The breeder and the transport company both have fairly elaborate web sites: https://unitedexpresstransport.com and https://familybredkeeshondpuppies.com. The transport companies Arizona address is a vacant building and their Long Beach address is a store front, their phone number immediately goes to busy. The breeder will only respond via text. I have not heard from the breeder since Sunday and I have not heard from the transport company since Saturday when I asked for refund of the insurance since the puppy did not ship. PLEASE BE WARE.
