I received a call from a caller who identified themselves as the US Federal Government. To confirm, I asked this caller where he was calling from again. The caller stated "I'm from the US Federal Government" I immediately stated that I do know that the government, along with any other legitimate business or company will NOT ever call the consumer/customer asking for any financial payments, donations, or to confirm any personal information or contact information. I informed the person that is how I know this is a scam and I was sure to inform this person of how I felt about scammers scamming good hard working people out of their money. I'll spare the details of the emotions and verbiage. As soon as the caller realized I was knowledgeable about the scammers & of how things truly work, he disconnected the call right away. The call number displayed as a Maryland phone # 443-691-3863 The caller did not speak English and sounded as if he were from another country.

I had a voicemail from 202-457-1970 claiming to be from the federal government and that it was a second attempt to reach me regarding my taxes. I called the number...it was a man named Peter with a very heavy Indian accent. When I told him that it was a scam and not to call me again he said alright.

My father received a phone call from this number with a message instructing him to call 315-496-8513 for further instructions. He called the number back and they stated that he had been chosen as recipient of a government grant in the amount of $9,200. He was told he needed to go to WalMart and they were going to send him a MoneyGram. They wanted him to go to WalMart within the next 10 minutes. I overheard this conversation and asked my father for the phone. The caller identified himself as a Federal agent but refused to state what agency. He said that this was a personal conversation and he needed to speak to my father. When I refused he hung up.

The lady claimed i had been selected by the US government for a grant loan of $9879 that i wouldnt be required to pay back. She said i must be wondering how i was selected by name and, knowing this was a scam from previous calls, i replied no. She became irritated that i wasnt curious and asked why and i said because this is a scam. She became even more upset and asked how could i say this is a scam to which i replied becausr the US government doesn't give out money. She immediately hung up.

I have received numerous calls offering me $9200 in a federal grant. The only information they requested was my age and unemployment status - which I didn't answer.

- Indianapolis, IN, USA

Called from the number 6465718245 and said I won a federal grant if 8500 dollars. I paid 260 dollars through western union and waited to receive my 8500 dollars along with my 260 dollars back in return. But they said the state government didn't approve my 8500 dollars and I needed to pay 850 in state taxes to receive my 8500 dollars. I then realized this is a scam and they are just trying to take my money.
