U.S. Treasury/Government Reports & Reviews (1)

- Cheney, WA, USA

I got a call from the first number, they stated that they were from the U.S. Treasury and that I had been "randomly" selected to receive a grant of $9,000. And that every year the government selects 1,700 individuals to receive this honor. They stated that I qualified because I had no criminal record, and No history of bankruptcy, and was in the qualifying demographic. They gave me three options, have the money deposited directly into my bank account, have the money put on my card, or a money order. Then they game me a confirmation code and told me to call a separate number and explain to them why I qualified for this grant. walking me through what to say by stating the no history of bankruptcy and no criminal record and that I promised to pay taxes on time or something along those lines. The person on the line had a thick accent, and claimed their name was Randy Thompson. They also stressed time and asked me to call they next number right after hanging up with the first number, and keep calling in 5 minute intervals until I reached someone. They also told me that the money order would be ready in 40 minutes and I should pick it up today. They asked for my age and zip code, but never my name. I did not call the second number.
