USPS address change Reports & Reviews (28)

There is a fake website pretending to be the USPS address change website. https://www.usaddresschange.me will charge 89.00 dollars for what is supposed to be a 1.00 charge.

I did a quick search on Google to update my address online which I've done numerous times before. One of the top options was for a USPS Change of Address. I clicked the link and entered the information including my credit card number. My address did get changed, as I received the confirmation letters in the mail. However, my credit was charged $89.95 to "CHANGEUSMAIL-ONLINE." I do not recall any indication of a credit card charge beyond the fee that the USPS charges in the amount of $1.10. I have no idea how I missed that this was not the usual USPS website. I plan on contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge.

I wanted to change my address with the USPS and thinking I was on their website I ordered to change my address. I did find it suspicious that a charge was not mentioned but after a long day and going through a list of address changes I went on with entering my credit card information. A few days later I checked my bank account and I was charged $89.70.I immediately called my bank and files a dispute. I hope they get shut down.

Mimic the USPS website for change of address and charge you $80, which they never specify or send a receipt once you complete the transaction.

I used my web browser on my phone to do a change of address request. I have changed my address before, so I just looked up “change of address USPS” like I have done in the past. I scrolled down a bit because I know the first few websites that pop up are “ads” and not the real websites, and clicked the one that I thought was the real USPS website because it said “USPS address change”. The website looked very similar to the USPS website, used the same color scheme, and asked for all of the same information that the real address change website asks for. I entered my information and immediately got an error message on the website saying my “request couldn’t be processed”. I subsequently received an alert text from my phone provider saying that they blocked a suspicious postal change charge on my card. I called the number provided in that alert text and let the lady know what happened, how my card hadn’t been stolen and I was confused and just trying to change my address. She informed me that the website I used was not the real USPS website and explained the scam and informed me that her husband once fell for this scam as well. She provided me with the phone number I listed in this form to contact the “business” that tried to charge me to ensure that they weren’t going to try to charge me again (which in hindsight seems kinda weird. I think if the charge did not go through, they should not be suggesting to customers to try to call the scammers and talk to them themselves). I called the number and an Indian sounding man answered and asked me for my name. I didn’t give him my full name, just my first, not knowing he already had my full name because it was linked to the phone number I entered on the fake USPS website. I said “I don’t need anything from you or your business, I just need to know if my card is going to be charged”. He said ok and continued to ask for my full name two more times (even though he already had it). I said I didn’t need to give him my full name, I just needed him to answer my question. He then proceeded to say “so I have an account here linked to your phone number under the name (insert my full name), is that correct?”

I was honestly scared hearing him say my full name and also very irritated with his condescending tone and how he was most likely using this as a scare tactic. I just said “that doesn’t sound like me”, trying to seem ambiguous because I didn’t want him to know if that was my name or not. He said “ok” and I then restated my previous question, since that was all I needed from him. I said that the charge did not going through and I just wanted to make sure it was not going to go through. He said “the charge did go through”. And I said “no it did not, my card is locked”. And he just said “ok, no it did not go through and it isn’t not going to go through since it didn’t go through the first time.” I said ok and hung up. My card is still locked, no charges have gone through, and I’m getting a new card. I’m still just very concerned because this scammer has my phone number, previous and future address, and full name and I don’t know if they’re going to do anything further with this information.

Website pretends to be USPS address Change website. Takes your address info, then your card info. Charge from USPS should be 1.05, this company charges your card for 89.95 and never submits your info for your address change.

- Hampton, VA, USA

Scammer used USPS Address Change to charge $80 instead of the $1 it should have been. The site looked the same but charged the credit card.

When you want to change your address. Do not use this website because it will charge your debit card at $79.95.

I changed my address online at Unitedmailchange.com and it was a scam, I was charged $79.95. I learned it wasn’t the real USPS site but it mimics it very well.

If you search “USPS Address Change” or “USPS mail forwarding” on Google, this website is the first to pop up. It looks very similar to a USPS website. When you checkout, it does not list a checkout amount and only asks for payment type. You are then charged $80 for a $1 service.

I went to the USPS website to change my address and then was directed to a website that said they would charge me 1.05, I put all of my personal information in and was charged 79.95

My wife went online to try to make a change of address thinking she was on the USPS page and stumbled across address-change-us.org. She didn't even notice the website name because the form looked pretty much like the one on the official website. She filled out the form only to find out a couple of days later while looking through my bank statements (she used my card) that there was a charge of $59.95 for a change of address, knowing that the online fee is only supposed to be $1.05. I went back to the website to see if I could find any other info. and if I could get my money back. If you scroll down to the very bottom and look at the fine print, the website says that it is not affiliated with the USPS Postal Service and tries to justify the blown out charge by providing extra "services". And that they offer a no-questions-asked refund if the quality of services is unsatisfactory, YET the website does not offer an email address, phone number, or any means of contact to try to get your money back. We neither received an email or a confirmation of the payment made, which should have been a red flag. Be warned, DOUBLE CHECK the website when you make a change of address online, or any other payment for that matter.

I googled to change my address for an upcoming change and clicked on this link. It was an identical match for the official usps website. I added in my cc info because it said it needed it to verify my identity. No where did it state I would be charged for the service. After I saw the charge in my account I went back to the site and read the fine print. I didn’t see anything in that information that stated a charge of 79.95 either.

I was trying to change my address, and the site said USPS Change Address. It took my card information and charged me $80.00. Once I realized what happened at that this was a fraudulent site, I immediately cancelled my card. It also says it will charge a monthly subscription, but it was in tiny print.

Visited a site thinking it was USPS to change my address. Shared information including address, social security, and payment information to process the fee. Upon reading the fine print, the charge was stated to be $79.95. The normal fee is usually only a few dollars.

I did a simple google search for "Change Postal Address." Like any person, I thought that the only site that would populate would be the USPS. At first I was wondering why the words "old address" seemed weird, then I noticed that they didn't tell me a price. I figured I had done this before though and it was only $1.05 so it should be fine. Then I noticed the logo. It wasn't until I had already paid that I saw the ridiculous url and saw $80 charge that I became upset and realized I was scammed.

I don't know why google even lets these companies place ads. Something needs to be done so that they aren't the first thing that pops up on these searches. As chance has it this was a purchase I decided not to use my credit card with and so am a bit unsure if I'll get a refund.

- Roanoke, VA, USA

This awful website has no contact info, so I can not call them about the scam. They took $79.95 from my account when NO authorization was given, they claimed they only needed to have the debit card number for identity protection purposes. They try to make their website look like USPS, only to scam people out of ridiculous amounts of money! They did not change my address. I want my money (that I did not authorize to be taken) back!

- South Saint Paul, MN, USA

Went to change my address since I was moving. Looked like a USPS website, entered my credit card information. Later I realized on my bank account that I had a pending charge of $59.95. I went back to the website and there is no phone number to be found to call to complain or ask for a refund.

- Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Website mimics usps website for mail forwarding but charged 59$

- Nashville, TN, USA

I went to change my address online. I searched “USPS change of address” unknowingly clicking on the first like that was an ad. They make it Look identical to the USPS change of address site, where you are typically charged $1.00. I confirmed a $1.00 charge to my credit card to make the change. Immediately after I checked my credit card which shows a charge of $59.95.
