Vanilla Visa scam website Reports & Reviews (1)

On January 10th 2023, I went to my local Dollar general to buy a vanilla Visa gift card, in the amount of $200, that I was planning to use that day to pay my electricity bill since I do not have a bank account. I buy a vanilla Visa gift card at least once a week to pay bills with and have been doing so for well over a year and have never had any issues or problems up until today. After I purchased my card I went out to my car and I immediately Google searched for the vanilla Visa website, for which I proceeded to login to my account on the vanilla Visa website and I put the card numbers in to activate the card and to see how long it would take for the funds to be available, which normally takes about an hour. It told me that the card was active, that there was a $200 balance on it and that my funds would be available for immediate use today in 58 minutes. I logged out of my vanilla Visa account and drove home. An hour later I went back on to my vanilla Visa account, logged into my account and yet again put my card numbers in to be sure my money was available. I was told repeatedly that there was a system error and to please try again later. I immediately called customer service, the number that was located on the back of the Visa card. I spent over three hours waiting on the phone, getting no answers, being put on hold, ignored and hung up on. There was no supervisor available to speak to me and all I was told was that my card had been compromised due to me using Google search engine to activate my card and that supposedly the vanilla Visa website that I clicked on and logged in to MY actual account, was a fake scam vanilla Visa website according to what I was told. I've never heard of anything in my life like that. They refused to do anything to help me other than make me wait 7 to 14 days for a replacement card to come in the mail. I told them I needed it to keep my lights on for my children. They refused to do anything to help me and now I am out $200.
